+1 for what Sungod said. They both have the same mileage on them so it's only a matter of time before the other one goes. Replacing them is a pain, I thought, but not hard. Now that I've done it it would probably go faster. Look on youtube, there are a couple of videos of this process if you need/want them. I got re manufactured CV axles from my local dealer. I could have gotten them a bit cheaper if I returned my old ones for a core charge refund but I kept them so I can re-grease and re-boot them. Then I'll have spares.
If you replace your leaking one quick enough, then there probably isn't any danger of grit having gotten into the joints and causing wear, making a reboot job pretty easy I guess. I haven't had time to do mine yet.
OEM re-manufactured ones have the tri-lobed inner housings. The aftermarket ones have smooth cylindrical inner housings.. just so you know. Also FYI, my joint housings were painted black when I got them, but it's a very thin coat. On one side, the inner housing has all of the paint flaked off, the other side is partially flaked off. The outer housings are slowly having the paint flake off. Don't know what the deal is on this... Anyhow, the spots where the paint has flaked off is now covered in surface rust. So you might want to put more paint on those housings before install.
Side note: does anyone know if there are variations on the shape of the OEM inner housings? As I mentioned, mine are supposedly OEM re-manufactured, but they look slightly different than my original OEM's Just wondering...
