CV axle rebuild. Inner clip part availability?

Does anybody know the part number for the inner circlip/snap ring/ring clip??? that holds the shaft onto the outer joint. The parts guy at the dealer told me this wasn't a serviceable part and was not available.

This clip broke during disassembly of the axle. I incorrectly assumed a new one was in the boot kit so I proceeded to pack the bearing with grease before I realized I do not have this clip. Am I SOL???

BTW, I found a similar part (90520-27091) but it appears to be for older vehicles.

It looks like the snap hole ring that fits on the end of the CV axle shaft to prevent the CV axle from coming out of the front diff.

Find a shop that rebuilds CVs or a junkyard for the part you need.

The part is not shown there. It is the snap ring at the end of the inner shaft that gets inserted into the birfield type outer joint (located just to the right of part 43447A in exploded view). This is the same thing the Toyota guy was looking at.

There are three different snap rings in the cv axle. Part 43411C, 43411B and the one I need. The boot kit comes with the first two. From what I gather these things break fairly often when disassembling the inner shaft. I would think these would be available somewhere. I'll probably have to see if the dealer has the above part I listed and then compare it to my broken one.

I'm looking for the same c-clip. I've been to about a dozen places including a couple dealers and so far no joy. Luckily the axles I'm rebooting are extras so I've got a little time to find replacement clips. Next time I will just clean the outer joints without pulling the shaft out.

Both clips failed like this along with a couple teeth shearing off the very end of the shaft.

Looks just like my break. Dinged a couple of splines a little but didn't break any off

These two pics show my broken one (bottom first pic) and the biggest one Napa had. The diameter of the Napa one appears to be a tad smaller. Probably on the plus side of half a millimeter smaller. Might be able to bend it a little and call it a day. Spring steel might not bend too easily though.

Decided to use the Napa clip. The clip snapped into place and the shaft doesn't want to come out. Close enough for me. I will not be fully disassembling the next one. I'll find a way to clean the outer without removing the shaft.

All cleaned up and ready for the ball.

nice find. I know for sure this ring broke on mine as I can grab my shaft and slide it left and right.

I found a use OEM cv, but if I ever want to rebuild the broken one, I will definitely need this clip.

Sorry, I do not have any part numbers. The Napa I went to had two plastic divider boxes with all sizes of cv clips. The label on the lid from the compartment I pulled this one from stated the size as 27.50mm ID x 2.08? wire gauge. This would put the O.D. around 31.50mm, but the one I received appeared to be a little smaller than this, leading me to believe these may have been mixed up in the box. I don't know for sure as I need a new battery for my calipers. Too late now as it's already on the truck.

The local Toyota dealer can order me the part I listed in my first post. From what I've found this clip is for a 27 spline shaft, but not sure about the diameter. Might try this clip from Toyota when I order my next boot kit. Even though I stated I wouldn't tear the next one all the way down, I probably still will.
