I'm getting ready to do my FJ swap and Daystar 2.5/1.5 lift. I remember reading that some folks were having issues with their CV boots leaking/tearing after putting a lift on. Should I buy new boots or new axles while I have it all torn apart? Is there a certain brand of axle that works better with having a lift on it? I searched and found a few people who said buying a certain hose clamp (McMaster I believe) helped a lot. Still trying to get everything figured out before I tear it all apart. TIA

Unless your boots are damaged or the cv axles need repair I wouldn't worry about replacing. Install the lift, if the boots start to leak then re-clamp them. From what I've heard the McMaster Carr clamps work well. Might not hurt to have a couple in hand.
If you ever need to replace the axles, I'd go with cvj axles. They rebuild Toyota OEM units which, IMO, are the best quality unless you want to pay in excess of $1000 for offroad, beefy axles. After doing a lot of research I went with CVJ over the aftermarket options and couldn't be more pleased. They also have silicone cv boots for folks with big lifts that constantly full flex their suspension (rock crawling applications etc)
