CV joint - will it work?

It doesnt look bad, but there coul be other damage. I'm not exactly familiar with how that cv bolts up but if there is a recess for it then there shouldnt be any problems. Why not just get one from the parts store, only about 50-75bucks, plus there is no shipping and usually a warranty.

Hey there

We need to replace the CV joint on our 1993 4runner and ordered one second hand from ebay but there looks to be some damage to the tulip (see liinks).

Is this sort of damage a big deal or can we get away with and still fit it to the car?

Thanks in advance.

If everything bolts up and nothing is bent it will work, but I agree that as cheep as they are new in the after market (about 75 to 100 dollars around here) and unless you only paid like 10 or maybe 25 dollars at the most for a used one I would try and get a new one.

thanks for the advice so far guys.
but where we are new joints cost about $300 - which we can't really afford.

Where are you?

Where are you that joints cost 300 bucks? That's crazy. I get them all day long at Pep Boys for 49.00.

Tell us where you are.

We're from rip-off Britain. Not so easy to get hold of those parts here.

thanks for the help - we'll try popping off the old one if it is still in good condition.

Well, us fat Americans that love eating cheeseburgers, lol, say install it the way it is, why scrutinize it, install it and see how it goes.

My cousin is a limey, he deals in auto parts in Britain, maybe I'll shoot him an email and see if he can supply those parts to the great country as well as the the ac compressors and brake parts he imports, that waste is rich! LOL
