So I just found this:

And I was wandering if I should fix it now or wait till I get the lift install (toytec will ship it in about 2-3weeks) I know its common to have a leak after lift
What do u guys think?

Btw I have the v8 which is 4wd all time...

I'd try to fix it sooner than later. Even if it has to be readjusted after the lift. I don't think you want anything getting in there.

** I don't know much about anything when it comes to fixing these things, this is just my opinion.

If it isn't clicking or binding. I would just get some new axles and install them with the lift. Just my 2 cents. If you are redoing the boots you aren't sure how much damage in there it isn't much more labor to just do the whole axle. And a new axle is like 50 bucks each from rockauto. Just my 2 cents.

its not clicking but it does make some noise when steering the wheels

Tried to fix mine yesterday with new band clamps and it didn't work worth a crap. Very difficult to get that job done properly, and if you have to take the axle out you might as well replace it.

2nd pic looks very disturbing. Looks like the boot is almost completely ripped open and no clamp on the end. Wouldn't surprise me if there was no grease left to lubricate the internal parts.

You are probably right( the car is not with me rite now) and the scary part is that it doesn't look so fresh...

When I put in my lift, buddy noticed both my inner boots are done. one is leaking, other one is torn, and has nothing in it. Been driving like that for who knows how long, and its just going in for service in two days. Hopefully it didn't damage other shit.

Looks like we r in the same boat lol (1 is leaking other is torn,,, who knows how long)

Just did both CV's for those exact symptoms. Not going to lie, had to drive it that way for a couple weeks, as I didn't have time to do the work. The CV wasn't clicking or anything though.

FWIW, when I pulled the completely torn boot, there was still grease inside of it. Just not near the tear.
