CV options

Just wanted to see what others were running or knew of. You can get them at the local parts store for $200 a pair or buy the lotus ones from Toytec for $1K or RCV ones for $2K. Is there nothing between the $200 and $1K mark? Spending $2K is ridiculous to me. Might as well save up for a SAS.

I'm just getting a little sick of the boots tearing apart and crapping grease everywhere after 5K miles.

i wouldn;t drop 1k on cv's just to keep boots from blowing

I haven't replaced my cv's yet so I cant say for sure the porshe boots work but ive read about others having success.

Are the ribs of the boots rubbing together causing the failure or are you having failure at another point.?

Ive only snapped 2 or 3 CVs in 10 years of wheeling pretty hard (good spotters) but yea, some people should REALLY think about doing a SAS

Both actually. I know it's because I've got so much lift, I.e it's my fault but I love the way the runner looks and I'm willing to deal with it. Just wanted a stronger option

The boots tear and split from either the angle or maybe something hitting it? Not sure but they don't last long at all

Theizzardking posted a link to the boot slide mod but Gerdo simply slid his boot down and retightened. He's reported that its staying in place after atleast a year. He has a thread about it on here.

But at this point it sounds like you have pretty new cv's and just need boots so I would just buy the porshe boots or new oems and slide them down.

i can to an internal inspection while looking at my drivers side cv. i have see-through boots now....

and they click, click, click. bout time for a new NAPA one. Ive had that one on the passenger side for a couple years now and it still looks like new.
