CVJ "long travel" inner boot torn after low mileage

So I found out my inner boot is torn with less than 10k on it. I'll have to look at my maintenance book for exact mileage when I get home. At this point I am planning to reboot with a standard Napa boot, but am curious why this one blew out so fast. My angles aren't too bad I don't think it's just too much lift. Any wisdom?

Did your boot have the o ring like the one pictured above? They put this on mine so that the last rib does not make contact.

I just bought the same axels from cvj. Red silicone inner with standard outer. so I am curious why yours only lasted 10k.

Did not have that o ring. Interesting. I just checked my book and they have only been on about 2,500miles.

Weird, I have over 30k on mine with no issues... Bunch of off road too. I did constantly check in the beginning for signs of the ribs rubbing... Other than than that. I've done nothing.

Lot's of CV axle posts of late. My advice is stretch the boots a bit further. When I first installed my CVJ axles I noticed a whistling sound. Ribs on outer boots rubbing. Stretched so nothing touched at lock and re-clamped. 25,000 miles later, 2 trucks, no issues.

links to where you ordered these?

Cvjreman.com

They have a few boot options inner and outer. Email for pricing. No direct links. They are in denver. I dropped by and picked mine up last week.

I'm hoping the o ring will do the trick. I'm at winter park looking to get them installed. I'll give an update as soon as i get a few miles on them.

That would suck if they tore quickly. Spent a fair amount for them.

Honestly in this case I think they were over stretched if anything. I think I'll call in the morning and see what CVJ has to say.

CVJ was great and sent me a new boot and a tube of Toyota grease. I paid a fee bucks to have them ship it to me.

So you originally thought it was around 10k miles - turns out - only 2500 miles?
I just made an order w/ CVJ. Silicone extended inner / Toyota plastic outer

I just noticed that my inner long travel boot on my CVJ remans has torn after about 25k. I'll have to call them to see if they can help alleviate the issue.
