Cylinder Head Replacement.. NEED HELP

I have a Second generation a 1995 4Runner SR5 4x4 with 3.0L V6 and 5 speed manual. I took him in yesterday for a tune up before I start getting ready for a 13 hour road trip to WA for CA. I found out that the #1 Cylinder has thread damage and has a heli coil for a temp repair. I was told that I needed to take him to the dealer or an engine shop for repair. Has anyone had to deal with this? Do I need to replace the whole Cylinder head or can I get the old one repaired? Any help would be helpfully.

You might be able to have a machinist install a thread cert, but I suspect the head will need to be pulled. Doubt they can do it with the head attached to the motor. Sorry to hear.
