Old man wants to get in on the 'yota action after years of riding the GM train.

Guy's old and wants comfort and pimping good looks.

I think that a Limited 4x4 would be best, but what about the BroPro and the TEP? Do those have nice interiors and comfort features, or are they not close to the Limited?

My 13 TE has a ghetto interior, so he doesn't want that.

Also, if we go LE, is there any trim levels/options packages I need to know about?

I have the limited. Love the interior. It's Lexus quality

Not many options other than Nav or third row. Quite a few nice bells and whistles that the other models don't have. My stock LE with 17" wheels and tires was a sweet ride until I went crazy with mods, still awesome for what I want but not for most.

They got this really neat place called a "dealership". You will find all different 4Runners there that they actually let you sit in and drive!!!

When I bought my truck I went to a large Toyota dealer and they literally had ONE SR5 on the lot and nothing else... Clearly I went elsewhere.

Got ya....But I also heard of this forum on the internet where there are literally thousands of posts and pictures all about 4Runners!

I bet there are even pictures...sounds like a cool place.

Actually, most dealers do not have a lot of them, except in Colorado. The old man is in Alabama. I could research it for him, but I would rather have him look at the truck himself.

I mostly looking at people's reactions to how nice the interiors are, which will be the most likely deciding factor for him.

He also really likes all-wheel four-wheel-drive.

Get him an LE. Coming from GM the chrome will be like an old friend.
 
If it's any consolation, I was in the same boat. I bought the 4Runner, and my dad's 298,000 mile suburban was ready to move on to a new owner. He liked the size of the 4Runner and the reliability. He wanted something a little more comfortable, and opted for the GX. He really enjoys the power, which he has been used to with his string of GM's over the decades, and the comfort is awesome. I will say that the GX's user interface is a bit wonky with everything controlled with the touch screen, even climate control. He has gotten used to it, but it seems a bit outdated. Other than that, he loves the rig and is looking forward to many comfortable and adventurous years out of it!

This is a enthusiasts' forum, and I am one of those degenerates myself.

I'm mostly worried if he will like the truck based on the comfort and interior features compared to a Yukon Denali.

Also, this will be sort of a retirement present, so I will be eating part of the cost myself.

I would like to get him something that he likes, that's why I'm so anxious about this.
 
The only thing I can say to look out for that the dealer probably doesn't know is that the 2 and 3 row versions have different middle row seats and the folding is different. The 2 row has a lot more cargo room folded down than the 3 row. If that's not important, the rest is obvious by test driving.

IMO you really need to test drive KDSS, nonKDSS and Xreas to see what you like. Unfortunately in Bama there's not going to be any KDSS models to test drive. But a GX460 has it, so maybe check one of those out as a comparison?
 
Just put my first 1200 miles on the new 2016 LE . I had always had big Ferds or boats. Now that I don't need the 10K pd towing capacity. There is no reason to own those behemoth . Plus they now use tiny turbo engines to make power. No thanks.

I love driving the LE. I loathed driving the Expedition boat .

I love the Leather COOLED ventilated seats. No sweat ...

Easy to back up , easy to park .

I ordered mine without the room eating third seat and sliding tray . Like previous poster mentioned , the two row model seats fold flatter than the third row equipped trucks. Huge difference.

I'm old school , but luv the LE......luv the wheels , pwr sun roof and dual frt climate controls . Simple engine without turbo, and all the other garbage that nobody but the dealer can fix.

21 mpg is ok too.

There is a big difference between a Denali and a LE so he will have to have an open mind and probably test drive. It's just different and you have to accept the difference.
