Daily driving: 285/70/17 C-load vs 255/80/17 E-load?

What do you think? I was pretty set on the skinnies, but then realized I would have to get them in E-load (Cooper ST Maxx or BFG KM2). These Coopers are 58lbs, 32.8” diameter.

In the other hand, KO2’s come in C-rated 285/70/17, which are lighter at 51.4lbs. Same diameter 52.8.

Advantages of skinnies (theoretical): less unsprung weight, better turning, less scrub radius, maybe less mechanical wear - but then I have to get E-rated which I think would offset all these factors

Which do you think would give a better ride on the streets? And better mpg? Probably a wash I’m guessing.

I think the additional rolling resistance of the E load would surpass any advantage of the skinny part. As well as the additional sidewall stiffness will be noticeable when driving on-road.

What about 275/70/17 C rated

i'm also looking into KO2’s come in C-rated 285/70/17, is a C rated tire what I should get if im going KO2's? im gonna say yes, correct? I dont want E as they would be a heavier tire, more weight, etc..

Imo, definitely. Unless you are building a dedicated rock crawler
