Damn Kids!

I walked out to my 4runner today to clean my MAF and throttle body to notice everything is pulled out of my glove box. My enter console is empty and my door is not fully closed. Apparently I didn't lock my car last night and some kid broke into my 4runner. This is the second time this has happened and I'm starting to get annoyed. I'm about to have a stake out and catch this little bas****. :gun5:

Well on a good note, the person didn't know about the extra compartment in the center console with my iPod touch in it. So that was saved, also my glasses in the compartment by the overhead lights were not taken. He didn't see my tool set and skateboard in the back either because of the cargo cover so I'm happy. All he got was a pair of bluetooth headphones ($30). I'm assuming a kid because they left the winning lotto scratchers. :trophy:

Gotta Love California! People usually never steal tools. I had the face plte from my stereo stolen but all my tools were left alone.

at least you left it unlocked and the thief didnt break a window to get in

Haha, I never understood taking the faceplate. Yeah I guess tools are heavy, but my skateboard would have been a good thing to take. I was an idiot for leaving it unlocked, but happy nothing got broken.

In downtown Abq, I always see bums that walk down the street and tryout the door handles on every car they pass. Looking for an open one. I just want to shoot them right there on the spot. Such worthless scum.

That reminds me of a drunken night in college. A bunch of us were walking home from a friends party and my friend and myself decided we would check peoples cars for being unlocked. Surprisingly about every 3 cars was unlocked, but we did the right thing and locked it for them. Just one of those drunken ideas on our long walk home.

I have a buddy who had his unlocked truck "broken" into and all they stole was the spare change. They left his iPod which was sitting uncovered on his center console. When he contacted the police about it they said it was probably a local drug dealer as those guys are only interested in cash because they already have iPods, phones, GPS's, etc, and they don't want the issues that comes with transfering items into cash. Kinda crazy.

I found my driver door open 1/2 " one morning, my heart sank... Both front seats were reclined fully, they dumped the glove box, console and the "secret" upper console tray. Missing was a big knife, a crappy multi-tool and a big Mag-Lite. Ironically, they stole my new handcuffs too.

You are lucky they left your tools. I had mine broken into about a year ago one night when i was packed up for a weekend trip and they got just about all of my hand tools and a few other little things that were odd to be stolen, but they left a bunch of electronics and a 200$ rain jacket. They punched in the lock on the rear hatch and got in that way.

I had some weird stuff happen to my 4Runner when I lived in Santa Cruz...

For instance, I walked out one morning to see 5" drywall screws "screwed" into the sidewalls of all my tires. These were 5 month old 315/75/R16 Goodyear MTR's. Luckily the guy at the tire shop felt so bad for me he gave me wholesale price for 4 new ones.

That was right around the time when people were getting their SUV's and trucks spray-painted pink on the west side.

Oooo those were your tires...sorry. :biggrin2: Yeah a couple of guys I knew from high school got caught slashing tires. Idiots. There definitely some weird things going on and this was the second time our car has been broken into. I accidently left my girlfriend car unlocked when I left for work at 8 am and by 1 pm it had already been broken into. So frustrating. :uzi:

That sucks, but guess it could've been worse. No physical damage to the ride and your big ticket stuff was still there. I had someone break into my '93 P/U once to steal about $3-4 in change...

I actually caught the guy in the act of taking my radio once. I parked my ride in front of my ex's house and when we drove up after grabbing dinner, the door was open with a foot sticking out. We stopped, I went to confront the guy and he booked it. I decided to chase after him and my guess is he didn't think I would catch up to him. Right before I could grab him, he tossed my radio up in the air... it was like slow motion... catch radio or continue chase... I caught the radio and set it down. He ran through a yard and into a dark street where he hid because I never found him... Wish I would have.

Years ago when my truck was stock, I was inside the gas station waiting in line to pay and saw a guy hop in my truck. I ran out of the place ready to pull him through the window and give him a good ol fashioned beat down, but he got this look on his fact like "wtf" and opened the door and got out. He sees me running straight at him screaming and he's says, "Dude, I'm sorry, wrong 4runner!". I look on the other side of the pump and there's a white 3rd gen SR5. We both laughed and shook hands. I told him I was this close to going nuts on him!

That actually happened again at the post office a while later with a friend of mine who has a white 3rd gen 4 banger too. I saw him trying to open my door as I was walking out and we had a good laugh.

Never had my junk broken into though (knock on wood). But I guess that one nice thing about not living in the city.

Haha. i actually did that once on accident. In my defense it was a rental car. I was out of town and came out of my hotel, got into a rental car only to find that my key wouldnt turn the ignition, i started to get a little pissed at the cheap junk car that they rented to me, then i glance in the back seat and see a set of blue prints and some other stuff that is definitely not mine. turns out some one else rented an identical car from the same place as i did and parked it right next to mine. I had a good laugh.

We get kids going through the neighborhood once in a while, checking for unlocked cars. Never any damage done, but if there's a "no intrusion opportunity" they'll take it. I chased a trio off at one point; I mean, what's a 13yo kid doing carrying a laptop dumping things into a garbage can at 5am on a Sunday morning?

But one morning we came out to find a bunch of hair ties and barrettes in the driveway (my daughter might've been 4 at this point, and we had a collection of these things in the change tray in my wife's Subaru). Sure enough, one door is slightly open & the change is cleaned out. I was pissed, thinking they looted the CDs and some of the other goodies as well. But no - they left the maglite, the knife ... and they left all my CDs. They took them out and rifled through them, but didn't take a single one.

And oddly, I was sort of insulted. Kids these days. No respect for people's stuff - or the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Miles Davis or the Dixie Dregs either, apparently. :redbrick:

I left my care unlocked once in the country of Maryland and i came back the next morning and the change tray was gone and my gps was ripped out but left in my back seat? along with my ipod? they must have gotten scared and forgot about it.. My stereo wasnt touched.. but i really miss that change tray hahah
