I like Honda. We have an 02 Accord and it's solid, other then a potential down the road tranny failure that that generation of accords are all famous for.
Honda is definitely not what it used to be either. Actually they had some real issues for a number of years. Trannys, Engines, this bar, and bar, poor quality as well. I believe they'sve started to turn things around though.

For sedans Honda has Toyota beat as the Camry is the most boring car ever. For trucks it's no comparison. The honda ridgeline uses the same IRS as the odyssey and accord.
Some hondas as you stated especially Odysseys are notorious for eating transmissions especially when fluid isn't changed at the exact mileage required.

I've asked before when the seat frame TSB came out but didn't get a response. Can this good shop foreman tell you what has changed on the replacement frame so we can look at that area for a cause (and our potential own fix)? I'm out of warranty so a frame replacement is out for me.

I've asked the same question and have NEVER gotten a straight answer...I think Coolpop mentioned that they don't know, but I think it's frustration talking for his case.
I would like to know too, as when it might come back and I wonder what DIY fix I can impose.
All he said was that it was a re-engineered seat frame.
For now it feels tight and great, but my warranty is up as well ( I just beat the cutoff).

FYI Honda vs Toyota. Seat cracking, popping, moving is not just a Toyota issue. The Honda Pilot has a well documented seat cracking, popping, moving issue and a TSB that goes along with it. I had the TSB performed on my 2003 Pilot but it didn't fix the problem entirely. It involved putting extra shims into the power seat at the points where the seat articulated.
I've owned 2 4Rs now, 2004 SE and 2007 Limited, and both of them have this seat problem, although I must admit that it is very intermittent and hasn't bothered me enough to worry about it.

Ok, hope I'm not jinxing myself here.
Dealer replaced BOTH seats, driver and passenger, on Tuesday, August 11. So far, so good, seat feels nice and tight, no movement, no noises. I even had a 350 lb. friend ride in the passenger seat and no movement or noises. He did complain about how tight and cramped my Runner was and I just looked at him as if to say "uh....look at the size of you."
Of course, this is about the 4th time going through this since 2006 and the movement and noises have always come back within three months, so we'll see.
I again pray to the gods that I didn't offend them and again, I offer sacrifices to keep the seats nice and tight.

Some have had success, others not. Coolpop seems to be cursed or something
I can't believe even the 2008s have the problem. I wonder if the 2009s will suffer.
To save yourself some hassle, like othes suggested to me, find out exactly how or what conditions the seat pops, then DRIVE the vehicle yourself with the tech or shop foreman and reproduce the problem.
I'm also having this issue and mine is an '08 Urban too. I haven't had time to take it into the shop but the last time I was there, I told my tech and mentioned that there were TSBs out there. It looks like I'll just reference this post and tell him to order me a new seat. I hope they still make the suade Urban seats as that's one of the reasons why I bought the vehicle.

Maybe you'll have better luck than I did. Seat in my Urban has been replaced 3 times in a year. Problem always comes back and now I'm suing Toyota bc the dealer says there is nothing else they can do.
Once I get a settlement, I'm trading this POS in and never buying another Toyota ever again. Their quality has slid so far downhill it's disgusting.

I totally sympathize, but I don't think most of us would call the 4runner a POS. Quite on the contrary. Though the SEAT is a POS, the rest of the truck is better built than most vehicles out there.

I guess I'm just incredibly frustrated. I went through 13 months of total BS with my 06, and now the 08 has the same problems.
I expect more from Toyota, as they seem to have set the bar quite high. Any decline in quality at the expense of making a buck will have me seeing red. So, I will trade it in after the suit is settled and never buy another Toyota again.
Ive had every TSB done on my 06 4Runner and still have the seat pop. The last thing they tried was shave some pins which made it worse. Now some Field tech that comes in my area once a month is supposed to look at it. I dont really have much confidence in Toyota fixing my seat.

I took mine to the dealer and here's what they found/did:
Loose bolts and seat alignment tabs. Could feel movement in the seat rail. Tightened seat bolts and test drove, noise lessened. Removed the seat and cut of alignment tabs from the seat rail. Test drove again and could not duplicate the problem. T-SB-0288-08 OP Code NV5011 for seat rail alignment pins.
This was fully covered under the 36,000 mile warranty (which expires soon). I'll wait and see if it comes back or not.
