Damn Seat Creak/POP is back again

Mine pops now too

Took my 4R in for a tire balance and a 350lb tech jumps in the drivers seat and now it pops like crazy. I am at 51k on the clock so I am out of luck. If anyone knows about a fix...please PM me. :redbrick:
 
Just an update. 5000 miles and 6 months later after having the seat frame replaced as well as new cushions, the seat creak/pop is back! Grumble. I now have 39K miles and am out of warranty.
 
Well, I had a tear in my leather seat on the side so I took it to an auto upholstery shop and they sewed a new piece of leather in and added more padding to the seat and then torqued the seat back in. So far, no popping.

after the third seat replacement, the issue CAME BACK!

Fed up, I figured out where the seat was moving and threw some JB Weld Metal Putty which bonds to metal and so far no pops/creaks. There was no problem with the rails as the TSB thinks there is.
 
VP500, was that hard to do? Did you have to remove the seat, or just the seat cover?
I literally just came back from the dealership for just an oil change, but told them the noise is back and in both seats. I told them there is no point in trying to replace the seat frame again, because it's the same faulty part. Funny how they said they haven't had complaints for 4Runner seats, but both of our 4th gens make the same noise in both front seats...
 
Let me confirm in a week's time that the damn noise is forever gone and I'll take the seat back out and snap some pics.

Irritated about the noise, I just threw the whole stick in various areas where the bars moved.

My power seats still move front - back and up - down.
 
creakpopcreakpopcreakpopcreakpopcreakpopcreak ALL the friggin' time. So annoying. I can actually feel it in my lower right back too when driving. I'm about ready to take both front seats out and bolt in lawn chairs. - Sorry, just venting but it's progressively getting louder and worse!

Last night as I was driving, a huge chuck came off and now the seat pop is back. I'll patch it up tonight and post pictures of the area. Hopefully that cures this problem.

I finally actually fixed my seat! (for now anyway) I used white lithium grease as outlined in this post under section labeled "location #2": http://www.toyota-4runner.org/probl...5331-i-found-fixed-my-seat-rattle-squeak.html

At first it didn't work, but I moved the seat back all around, and the grease finally made it's way in between the where the metal contacts of the gear (for the rotation of the seat back) and the frame. The best part of this solution is that I didn't have to remove the seat, I simply lifted the lower flap of the seat leather. I guess I will just do this a few times a year when the noise returns.
 
I fall into the same bucket as most with this issue. The dealer changed out part of the lower frame maybe 6 months ago and all was good until a few weeks ago when it started back up worse than it did originally. After reading this post I heavily sprayed everything down with white lithium grease as described above + all of the tracks/rails. At first I thought I was crazy (or high from the fumes) but mine is 95% better now! It was so much quieter that I started noticing other noises from the seat which lead me to pop open the back part of the seat and spray where the side bolsters meet the metal frame and foam backing. I am one happy man and should be able to keep my sanity for a little bit longer.

However, when I was looking under my seat I noticed a white electrical harness that isn't connected to anything. I suspect that this must have happened when the dealer last worked on my seat. All of the power functions seem to be working fine so I am guessing this may have something to do with the airbag. Does anyone know what this is for?

yellow plug is your air bag. if you dont see where the other end of that plug goes to, it might not be used. if anything, take it back

those that have this creaking noise. how much do you guys weight? wanna know if weight is an issue. i do agree that newer toyotas have alot of quality issues. i would never buy a newer toyota. 2000 and up on most
 
Negative on the heated seats. I am due for an oil change so I will have the dealer take a peak while it is there.

As for the seat creak/pop issue and weight question I am 210. To update everyone on my experience with the lubricating the seat it has been 100% quiet for about a week not.
 
Weight

260#, 55K miles, 2008 limited. Pop and creaking. I'm looking to sell this thing now. Pretty disappointed.
