Dang-it I Dented the D*** Door

So I was have a little too much fun going through the rock garden up forest lake trail today. I honestly thought the rock was smaller. Don't worry. I didn't get hurt, and my underpants are still clean. :)

So my problem is, the window won't roll up now. I was hoping there is a way to remove the exterior door skin to push the dent back out. It's not the best looking rig in the first place, but I'd at least like it to not look like I rolled it. :) I know how to removed the interior one but there isn't a whole lot of working room in there.
I'll get some pics of me on my side when people not stuck in my runner send them to me.

I guess it's time to drill some small holes and use a slide hammer?

or really strong suction cup or a strong magnet. see if a scrap yard will hook one of their crane magnets to it and pull. just throwing out ideas
 
I was a body man for about 10 years and ran in to this a few times. Now I'm just going from the pictures.

The easiest way is to drill holes and use a slide hammer or weld tabs to the dented area and pull the dent. My guess is you don't want holes in your door.

Remove the door panel. Next unbolt the window glass And slide it out of the door. If need be for room remove the window track and mech. Now without being able it see inside the door myself use your best judgment. I might try a piece of 1x1 and a hammer and start hammering it out. If you can't get to the area with the 1x1 you might try to work it out with a pry bar. Keep in mind this is not a proper or good looking repair, but at least you might be able to get your window working.

If all else fails hit the wrecking yard and get another door.

Thank you FJ40. I'll be working on it a little after work tomorrow. I'll update if I have success. My memory of the inside of the door is that there's not much room to work with. I don't really care if it's pretty at this point. I'll just bang it up again anyway. :)

I like the tube doors. but winters are cold here so it's not a viable long term solution, though would like to get some for summer. I have finally gotten the window up, but I think I need a new door. The dent is deep and I can't get straight on it.
Kid, I was going through the rock garden. There's a big rock on the far right as your going down the trail that I thought was smaller, and on the left of the passenger tire, so I tried to straddle it and went over.

I'm trying to picture where that is, and I can't quite do it. That's in the first couple rocky sections just up the hill from the river?

I agree, cut what you've got into halfdoors and get a new set to run in the winter. Luckily, painting them shouldn't be a problem for you. :)
 
my half doors were SSSSOOOOOOO easy to make.... i personally like the look of a sheet of diamond plate to cover the inside of the door, cut the door on the same plane as your inside door handle so all you have to do is bend the rod inside the door 90 degrees and before you weld everything up make a spot for a cup holder up near the mirror. it is def worth the extra 5 min. have fun!
 
I'm pretty new at this so I would have no freakin idea how to get out of that situation, but nice dent.
