dash bulb problem

so i just got a new set of #24 dash bulbs for my 01, and i pulled apart the cluster, took out the old bulbs, put in the new ones, and they dont work. so i think they are in backwards since they are polar sensitive, so i flip them, not working, and i start to smell a burning rubber smell......

is this a fuse problem? and why would i blow a fuse with leds when they dont draw as much power? and which fuse should i be looking at?

or any other suggestions would be nice.

it may sound like im over reacting, but ive had a really bad day so far, and this needs to be working by the time i go to bed for the night. this is my dd and i cant have problems like this keeping it out of commission....

update: i switched fuses to see if it was that, and its not the fuse. so what else could cause the bulbs to go out like that?

Thats crazy!! Which LED"s did you order? (who from) I'm sure you checked everyhtin but just to ask all your cables were clicked in and everyhitng tight?

previous bulbs were leds from v-leds, and worked fine. i actually left in one of the v-led bulbs to see a difference, and none of them work now. so to answer your question, no, the old bulbs do not work either

oh, and the new bulbs were ebay bulbs, like i said, wanted to see if i could get some that were brighter

got it fixed, and learned something along the way. also new do-it-yourselfers should take note.... the gauge will not light up if the dimmer switch is not attached....

you can imagine my frustration by it being such a small thing :wow:

but it could have been worse, so im glad
