Heat charts and extreme vehicle heat.
So, I am researching inside temperature of vehicles. Accurate Data is surprising lacking, except in regards to dogs and kids. I am sure I can say there are not likely any members here stupid enough to leave a dog or kid in a car.
Nevertheless we can get a pretty good picture of interior heat load, and that time it take to reach maximum based upon the charts available. The attached chart indicates the temperature rise in one hour at 95 maximum, but I think we can deduce the temp at 110-120 from the chart.
Most systems have a maximum tempt of about 158F/70c
I have had a Samsung phone fail as well my Ipod. The Ipod came back by simply cooling it. (dozens of times) The phone was toast, both times, the phone no longer gets left in the car.
It would seem that in order to ensure a system remains functional, and not be damaged or fail here where I liver, and play, it will need to either delay starting, and be cooled by the vehicle AC, or have a secondary cooling system to keep the temps within the range of the system.
I do not want to wait for my system to cool before I drive as this would increase the engine heat load. I am leaning towards creating my own system with a heat sink, thermostat, and cooling fan based upon the Road Hawk DVR 4 Camera system. Pricey yes, but with this system I would get 4 views and full interior coverage.
