Dash lights always on...

I recently traded in my '03 for an '07 (for the V8 and towing)...I've always just left my lights on "auto" but on the new rig the dash lights are always on when it's on this setting is this normal?

The headlights are not on, only the parking lights, is this a setting I can change or is this a new characteristic?

IDK if it is normal or not, but my dash lights (2006 SE) stay on all the time too.

Yup its normal, the dash lights and the MPG/Range display.

So how do you guys run your lights? Is it bad to have the dash lights on all the time (bulb life)?

Try turning the dimmer all the way down - the lowest setting is Off.

In my opinion this "dash light on all the time" is NOT condusive to safety. The reason being, too many drivers at it is don't think to use their lights when they should.With "daytime running lights taking the place of turning on a light switch...no TAIL-LIGHTS with daytime running lights! Now, when the vehicle is started ,the dashlights are already on, so the driver with their mind on everything else but what they're doing has no clue they're running around in total darkness,in the rain,snow,fog,dusk and dawn. Too much THINKING being done by our vehicles these days! :awais:
