Dash lights

The left side of the dash lights (MPG, Average Speed, Distance to fill-up side) just above the A/C controls started to flicker last night and are now dim compared to the right side.

Anyone else have this issue? There are only 12.5K miles on the truck, I'll have it looked at my 15k oil change and tire rotation. I'm annoyed because something like this shouldn't happen this soon into ownership (come to think of it, none of my other cars EVER had an issue with dash lighting and I've owned some crap).

Never had that problem, even in old car. Can it be some moisture from rains or fluds?

Doubt it. Never flooded and its the light cluster under the Nav unit. If it were rain or other water/ fluids I'd assume it would fry the Nav first...

Probably just a blown bulb. I replaced the same one, not too difficult. You should be able to search for a post to show you how to get at it. You'll have to get a replacement bulb from the stealer.

YES !!!!!

I've had the same problem for a while now. First when i got the truck, it would happen on rare occasions. I took it to the dealer, who did not find any problem (no kiddin'). Now at 40k it's constantly 1/2 lit. Left side is dark but not totally dark and the right side is fine.

Mine does that too, sometimes it alternates which side is dim. Someday I'll open that up and see if it's a loose bulb, but I have a feeling it's something else since so many others have the same problem.

I have the same thing going on too. I've got around 38k miles now. The left side as well. I temporarily fix it by turning off the dimmer then back on again. It's basically due to those backlights being on all the time. I'm going to get them fixed pretty soon. It didn't start happening until late 2007.

Nice pic krot, thats exactly the issue I'm having. Will have the stealer look at it next time it's in. Glad to hear I'm not the only one.

Mine use to do that between the left and right side of the display when it was new. I haven't notice it as of late. Self-fix?

Mine just went out about two weeks ago. Looks just like that pic now. Never flickered though, just went out. I figured it was a bulb and was going to order it and replace it next chance I got. Anyone know the procedure or have the thread on how to remove the front of that piece?

As I recall from when I changed the bulb in mine:

Open the compartment under the controls; remove the single screw near the top of the opened compartment; pull out the control panel (AC, blower, heater controls and display) with your fingers on the sides. The bulbs are tiny and look more like led's than bulbs. Use a screwdriver to remove the bulb from the back of the unit. This is from memory several months ago. If in doubt search for a post to remove the stereo head unit, which requires a lot more trim piece removal than this, but includes removing this control panel. This is a 10 minute operation after you've done it a few times.

Great! If it as easy as it sounds this will be the quickest dash bulb replacement I've ever done. That is probably why I hadn't replaced it yet, I've done a few and they're usually a pain in the ass just to replace one bulb. Thanks.

What size dash lights are in a 95 4runner?

Hey!

My dash light went out on my 1995 4runner 4x4 3.0, and i dont want to take the whole dash apart to see what size the builb is, if only one knows what size the builb is can you let me know? I only want to take my dash apart once

Take a picture of your dash and know exactly where it's out and take that to the dealer to look at there parts diagram on the computer to get the right bulb.
