Dash noise/

lately i've been getting a strange noise coming from under the dash, i'd have to guess the driver's side. When i first start my truck and pull away, the noise will appear even before breaking and then as i continue to drive, it will occur intermittantly, sometimes when I brake, sometimes when i don't . i lasts about 2 seconds.
The noise sound like a horn being used with a very low battery. its an electrical honk/squeek type of sound, pretty loud, can't miss it.
What am i looking at here? My truck has 230 K on it. 20004. Thx.

Are you sure the noise you're hearing is not the brake booster small electric motor running?

The motor should run when you turn on the ignition and then about every 3 depression of the brake pedal and only run for a few seconds, when everything is normal it should be a slight buzzing sound seemingly coming from behind the speedometer.

If the motor is worn out or getting close to being worn out the sound can be much louder.
