DashCommand - An Alternative to Scangauge

I don't think there's a way for the ECM to directly measure fuel flow. There may be a way to indirectly calculate it since the ECM knows how much air is coming in (MAF), and the AFR (wideband O2 sensor on Cali emissions models).

I wish there was a way to measure the injector pulse widths on these Toyotas, but I'm not aware of how to do that.

I see photos on this thread from the OP [MENTION=105650]Firstborn10[/MENTION] and [MENTION=69310]zacattack20[/MENTION] showing fuel consumption, horsepower and torque but I'm not getting any of this? Could I be missing something under Dash Command settings/setup? Would be great if someone could list which Dash Command gauges will or will not be functioning for 3rd gen 5VZ-FE.

I'm thinking it must be something in the settings. Will be looking into PID's...

The real value of the Scanguage is that it is always on, doesn't run on a battery and doesn't use Bluetooth.

I've used these type of apps and then I bought a scanguage.

Wouldn't connecting/pairing a wifi/bluetooth OBD adapter directly to a compatible double din eliminate the need to run the app on a phone/tablet and provide an always on connection?

Hate to bump old thread, but am looking at getting a new pioneer double din and Dashcommand comes preinstalled. Anyone think it would be worth to spend the money on a premium double din pionner or save a few hundred and just get a scan gauge or ultra gauge for 100$?

Anyone else using Dash Command able to return vacuum/boost readings?

Mine does, don't know how. Hooked up a vacuum test gauge and it read pretty close from full vacuum at idle to max boost. Within .5" or so throughout the sweep. I have zero idea how that's happening, maybe a calculation from MAF or other sensor readings versus engine speed?

And yes, I know super old post. But still good info to add for searches etc.

You know I too wonder how the manifold vacuum is produced. My Torque Pro app has that parameter and it seems high to me. I've never seen a engine at idle pulling almost 25" hg. And when I just have ignition on without engine running to see what it thinks the Barometer is.........it reads error.

My vacuum test gauge reads around 22 jv at idle, do it may not be that far off? (garden variety parts store bought, nothing fancy)

That is a more realistic number. I'm use to seeing 22-23"hg. Never seen 25" unless I was vacuuming down a AC system.

Do you have a place to mount the ScanGauge? It will be about 120-150 dollars. I love my ScanGauge. It's mounted in my Saturn S series. But having a real stereo and it coming with DashCommand would be neat too. Right now I have a cheep LG 7.0 tablet and a BT OBD dongle watching parameters for the Toy and Jeep.
