Day run around Tucson Sat. July 30?

im doing a ride along with tpd 9pm saturday til 7am sunday...

and i have a hockey game at 830pm on sunday.

as long as i can sleep once i get home for a few hours after the ride along i should be good.

also, i am only a 2wd so it depends where we go. im willing to push my runner to the limit as long as you all have tow straps haha

So if we bump the meet and greet to 2 would that work? This way if your running late you'll still be able to meet up before we actually head out on the trail. Only reason I'm still pushing Saturday is because I'm helping my brother move on sunday and I'm not sure whats he's got planned and if it can be moved to Saturday.

Well ive never been to any of them but I don't think anyone would mind if you picked a trail you think you can do.

Chimney Rock looks straight forward enough, but one main concern is flash flood risk with the weather forcast for the weekend. Also, since i have never been there, I am not sure of the route, so it will be a bit of an adventure.

Here's a good site about trails in Arizona, with several near Tucson:

Charouleau Gap is near Oracle, so it's naturally closer from NW Tucson:

I've had friends--motorcyclists, ATVers, and 4x4ers--recommend it.

Rice Peak is also near Oracle:
Experience AZ Rice Peak

Those trails near Oracle have the advantage of also being convenient Mt Lemmon and Summerhaven...for a good escape from the heat.

Chiva Falls is probably the best known trail near Tucson, near the east side off Redington Road/Pass:

Note: There are other listings for Chiva and alternate routes that aren't as challenging. I was just there in Feb 10 on an ATV. There is one section I'm not sure I'd want to attempt, but haven't seen it since...and there are ways around it (but they may take miles).

Chimney Rock is also off Redington and sounds nice:

However, it sounds like desert pinstriping is a almost assured on this trail. Not that it would worry me much, but others might be bothered with it.

Looking at the great website that illzoni posted, I tried to narrow it down to easy to moderate trails that appear to have little flash flood risk. A few that stand out are Kentucky Camp (looks interesting, but not going to be much of a challenge), Fish Canyon, Copper Creek. There are others too, and I didin't have time to go through it all closely.

Sounds like he is up for anything. Most of the lower end trails sounds doable for 2wd, and if there is the odd steep section we can give him yank. What are you in the mood for?

Where do you guys live? I am in Oro Valley. I think Trevloc is only available after 1 pm, so maybe we meet at 1:30? We can head down towards Kentucky Camp and Fish Canyon, since they are close to each other and see what we are up for. If we all live on the north side of town, we can pick something else, which is closer.

i live on tangerine and lacanada. but i am willing to drive anywhere. rob lives on oracle and 1st ish so thats north as well.
