Daystar 2.5/1.5 Leveling kit, mess up wheel bearings or UCAs?

Got a couple buddies that are saying I’m gonna have wheel bearing and UCA issues with my Daystar 2.5/1.5 leveling kit. I only put it on for looks and to see if later on I wanted to spend 1000’s in a for real suspension kit.

I got it aligned immediately after installing it but, I think it needs another alignment.. 3 weeks later.

What say ye.

I've had mine on for 25k miles and no issues.

I installed mine myself and made sure the job was done right. I think a lot of issues people have are with incompetent shops screwing it up.

Had mine for probably 50-60k. No issues and we've wheeled the 5th gen a few times.

At 2.5" front lift you probably will need UCA's to get back to a good front alignment spec. However - you can probably get around 1.5-2* of caster and all other stuff in spec. The result is that it will not drive as well in terms of easy tracking down the highway. Otherwise it'll be fine. Just see how it feels to you.

Wheel bearings will be fine. Lift doesn't effect them in a meaningful way. And Toyota uses very large wheel bearings compared to the vehicle size/weight. They'll last a long time regardless of what you do outside of heavy desert racing type use. Even then they'll probably go for quite a while. My general experience is that rear Toyota wheel bearings last 200k miles regardless of what you do with them. It's like they have an expiration built in somehow.

Speaking of wheel bearings, I replaced one of my front bearings at around 160k in my 4th Gen 4Runner. My wife's Sienna had a wheel bearing go at 90k.

I knew I shouldn't have lifted the Sienna. :doh::doh::doh:

Oh, and I've wheeled mine with the Daystar lift. No issues. Alignment and tracking is as good as stock. The ONLY issue I have is going over speed bumps with the rear wheels. If I don't take it slow, it's rather jarring. I think the shock is fully extending and catching which isn't good.

TO OP: as per others, Daystar lift will not impact longevity of wheel bearings or UCA.
I am assuming your buddies have Jeeps (LOL)...? if my assumption is correct, then I understand why they would tell you about wheel bearings issues.

One has a 5th Gen 4Runner and the other said he had issues on an old bronco and it was either return it to stock or spend 1000’s on a complete suspension system. I think I may go get another alignment before anything else.

I just got my daystar not too long ago. There is a bit of settling I feel like. I have lifetime alignment and so after the initial alignment, I took it back. Everything is within spec. I think caster is 2ish.

Understand, I had daystar lift (2” front and 1.5 “ rear) on my 4th gen, sold the truck with 140K without any issues… one of the main issue with any spacer lift and without changing shocks is overextending stock shocks on the full down travel of suspension, but there is no impact on UCA or wheel bearings.

The other issue with doing 2.5” lift on the front (regardless of type of the lift you have) and keeping stock UCA is inability to adjust caster as per factory specs (again no impact on UCA or wheel bearings longevity) … but that was one of the reasons I decide to stay closer to 2” lift on my truck (as I was not planing to change stock UCA).

I’m thinking of possibly going with Bilstein 5100s set at .85 and maybe just a 1” spacer in the back. Lower it down a bit and make it easier to align.

Set all the way up.
Bilstein 5100 rears with daystar 1.5 inch.
Needed alignment when done.
No problems but I only have 3000 miles on it.

So you’re running the fronts at 2.5?

Yup all the wad up 2.5 inches no binding. Checked it full droop on the rack.

Yup. Caster is at 2 which isn't ideal but on a budget for now. Everything else is in line

I've had my daystar 2.5" kit installed for only a few weeks now but was able to get it aligned by Toyota right after install and they said they got everything perfect in spec.

No issues in the past 1K miles and i've hit a few moderate level trails no problem.
