That's where we went on Monday. At the top of the hill where we turned around last time you turn left and it takes you down to where I got those pictures of Bob. Nice area. I don't know that I'll be able to go- git a few things I gotta do on the house so we can put it up for sale, and the wifey thinks that should take priority. Lol. We'll see what happens.

No, they go in really easy. You gotta remove the sway bar, so it's not connected to the spindle. Remove the two bolts on the lower ball joint and then knock the upper ball joint out of the top of the spindle. Then you can push down on the lower control arm and work the strut a little to get it out. It definitely helps to have another set of hands to help push stuff out of the way so you can work it out, but it could easily be done alone. Once the strut was in place I put the nuts on the top studs just to hold it in place and then pushed the LCA down to get the bottom of the shock in place. Really the hardest part of it all is getting the two bolts on the bottom of the lower ball joint started again. Here again it helps to have another set of hands. Only used a spring compressor to put the strut together. It wouldn't help any with trying to get the strut in- it would just get in the way.

Yeah see I did the same thing but I had problems because no matter how much i pushed on LCA, I could not get the lower shock mount back into its resting spot on LCA. I eventually gave up because i ran out of time and needed my runner so decided to just take it back and wait til I go coilovers. Thanks for your info tho and congrats on the ride!

Hi Bigrupp, I am really looking into the same setup you have for my 04runner but I was wondering what height setting that you have set on the front shocks. Also, I saw you have a 3/4 inch spacer...is the spacer so you get a full 3 inches of lift in the front? or is it even a 3 inch lift in the front all together??? cuz thats what im going for..

Exact same setup as I have, less the spacers. Rides great, only change will be the 886's when the bumper and winch go on.

I have it on the lowest setting. And yes, the spacer is to get the full three inches in front.

So how much lift did you get with just the 884? I read some got 2.5" and some 3"+...

I really don't know how to answer this. I don't remember what it measured before putting in the Daystar, and I forgot to measure before taking it out so I don't know what the measurements really ended up being. I'm sitting at 38" from the ground as it sits now, except the front driver is at 37.75.

Not entirely sure, but the inner CV boots are about maxed out, like you said somewhere around 2.5 to 3 inches of lift. The front shocks are on the .85 setting and that just about eliminated the rake. No wheeling issues. I think it's a pretty good setup.

Did you get more lift out of the new setup over the Daystar?

I am running Daystar on XREAS and plan to do something similar in about 6 months. I would like to get more lift if possible and compensate for adding a winch bumper and winch.

We put the Toytec lift on our FJ and it is great but we do not have a winch on it or winch bumper. My 4Runner is our trail rig.

I am really interested to know if I will get more lift out of a coilover set up.

Like I said I forgot to measure, but you can see that there is more lift, and you definitely notice it when getting in. If you are planning on adding a bumper and stuff later you'll probably want to go with coilovers so you can adjust for the added weight, unless you want to change out for heavier springs.

Bigrupp, Can you describe your feelings about the front suspension rigidity? How hard are front bilshteins 5100, when compared with the standard front shock absorbers?
I plan to use 5100 with OME883 in the front of my T4R, but I dont know. Some say that they are very hard, but others say that they are soft as a standard shocks.

Thanks for answer.
Another question about 5100 front shock lower bushing. It sold separately from the shock? Or I can put in it a native bushing from the standard shock absorber?

Oh no, I am talking about LOWER bushing in a front shock. If it will damage due to offroad exploitation, can I buy a new one from bilstein? Or may be it will fit from a standard toyota oem shock? Or maybe I'll have to buy a whole new shock because of a bush?

How you gonna come in and hijack my thread Lex? lol.

To pay me back I'll just take that locker that you put in. Thank you.

Ha! If you're close to Virginia and find a good deal on one I'll you get it in. aside from taking out the rear axle (easier to mod) it's a pretty simple install.

When I got my shocks I got extra tapered bushing. I'm sure they're available separately.

Fixed... lol. I actually read about it over on 120. I'll definitely be doing this...at some point. I'm gonna be ordering sliders soon, and then skids, and then I'd like to lock it.
