Daystar Lift/Level kit 2.5/1.5

My runner missed the "Hollister."

K.C.

Thanks for the pics. I'm waiting for the sun to shine again here in MN so I can get some pics done of my own and post them...Believe it or not, I moved here 1.5 years ago from Santa Clara, and unfortunately the only thing left to ID my baby as a Norcal truck is the license plate frames that still say "Piercy Toyota ....880 and Great Mall Expy."

At least some of your pics can remind me of what I'm missing. :crybaby:

You're very welcome!!

I know exactly where Piercy Toyota is...I love D&B @ Great Mall.

...back on topic...

Thanks a lot !

2.5/1.5 pics

The pics you have included seem to be two different setups. The one that fit my '07 4x4 looks more like the "bottom" picture. The kit consists of two larger 1.5 " Rear spacers that install atop the rear coils without hardware. The kit's front 2.5 spacers have 3 holes in them and mount to the top of the strut assembly. The "top" picture you have there(with the computer in it), looks like it has two sets of front spacers and the larger set of rear spacers. For my application, and I assume your application, that picture would be of the incorrect kit.

Thanks !

I got the same as the second pic.

Another question. The front spacer is 1,5'' thick. Is the front lift is 2,5'' with a 1,5'' spacer ?

Lift "

I didn't measure the front spacer before it was installed, so I'm not positive on it's dimensions. Post-install, it certainly is all of the 2.5 inches...

Those pictures look like the two style of kits available. The front lift has different options, one just sits above the spring and the other has two parts, both a spring pre loader and a spacer.

Do you have before/after pics of yours? How's the ride (especially the rear any stiffer)?

I'm trying to figure out from these pictures (I believe it's the topout only): Daystar (Spacer) installation on 4Runner with XREAS - Toyota 120 Platforms Forum

Does the spacer actually extend the shock? Meaning does the spacer site ontop of the spring (extending the shock) or ontop of the entire strut assembly (not sure what exactly this would mean) and not extend the shock?

The reason I'm asking has to do with XREAS if the rear shocks are always extended more than normal aren't they using more gas/liquid from the closed XREAS system? Meaning there would be less available to preserve the XREAS ride characteristics so the daystar claim of the topout spacer of not changing the ride characteristics, wouldn't be entirely true with XREAS. I asked someone on here about their experience and they confirmed the ride is harsher even with XREAS with the topout only spacer. Since I'm interested in the spacers for looks I don't want to lose XREAS. Thanks!

Consensus

I think the general consensus is that the pain in the ass of the Xreas system, outweighs the small price and great looks of the 2+" lift you achieve...to the point where one of two things happens:

1) People decide to scrap or disconnect the Xreas and go traditional with new shocks etc....

2) People don't install a kit with Xreas.

IMHO, when putting your truck "up" either way you should expect a difference from the stock ride and handling. My experience has been great because I wanted a stiffer feel when cornering/turning, and was willing to give a bit (not all that much) in terms of the bumpiness of the ride. I, of course, do not have Xreas, so I was able to find the right blend of the comfort and stiffness when thinking about upgrading the shocks. This is why I went with the es3000 instead of the es9000 procomp shocks in the rear. I'm not sure what I'd do if I were you.

BTW: the front spacer mounts on top of the entire strut assembly, as the rear spacer mounts above the rear springs. :surfer:

Welcome. Many have that kit. This thread has lots of pics of different lift and tire combos. There a few rigs in with the Daystar. The Daystar has been used by many and is well liked.

I want to use this kit also it looks sweat and this may be a dumb question but my wife drives it most with kids will it make more likely to tip or is such a small lift no big deal and not matter. Also, do you know if it will mess up my Platnum Toyota Certified Warranty? Thanks

Depends what you need the warranty for. Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act says Toyota can only void the warranty on the related components and the burden of proof is on them for why the mod lead to failure. For an example, with the lift, if a suspension related item goes bad, then it is possible for Toyota not warranty it (bad shock, ripped CV boot, etc). But Toyota can't void the warranty on your radio or moonroof because you have a lift.

I've been searching for the answer for this and can't find it. I figured this would be a good thread to post the question in since it's titled Daystar 2.5/1.5.

Do the 4th gen 4Runners have a "manufacture specification" tolerance for the drive shaft angle? I'm wondering if the 2.5/1.5 daystar top out only spacer could (or does) affect the drive shaft angle? Since the front is lifted while the rear axle stays at the stock height. There's a daystar video on youtube being installed on an F150 and they claim everything is still within factory specifications after the lift, how do they know?

Not sure if you got the answer.
2.5" front and 1.5" rear would not afect your propeller shafts in any bad way. Anything over 3" on front may have potential CV issue, but with some work one can overgo those issues.

P.S. I have 5.5" for over 3 years now and its all good. Used to run 7", but that was too much and CVs were badly affected, while rear was fine even with 7".

trying to install Daystar 2.5/1.5 lift on 07 runner

Hey all first time poster and was wondering if all I needed was the actual front and rear spacers for the 2.5/1.5? I read somewhere I need FJ springs? is that true? HELP!

lbpika, no you do not need new springs. You can use your current springs with the daystar spacer lift.
