After installing either lift can you still park your rig in the garage?

Or is it banished forever to park outside because it is too tall now?

I park in a 6'6" garage at work and w/ my combination I still have about 1 or 2" to spare? (I was scared at first but I'm not that worried.)

o yeah 3.5" up front, 1.5" body lift, and 285's so it's up there. The good news is that I'm just par w/ a suburbie/expedition on the roof rails :)

if ya want, try measuring the top of the truck and then add 3" if you're not sure.

I have a Daystar / NE lift and have still have plenty of cleareance in and out of both my home and work garages. So much in fact, that my ski rack fits as well.

YMMV

lift

yeah I also worried about if it would fit. But, I still have alot of clearence with a 4in NE lift. I also just installed 4in tall thule snowboard racks on my roof rack too. I stilll have like 2-3in clearance.

Thanks all, I was viewing an optical illusion. Aren't most home garages built at code of 10'?

I'll have more than enough room.

No, depends on the area and builder. Besides the garage door is never as high as the ceiling. I have a 10' ceiling with a 7' door opening.

Yep, I'm in the same boat. But there is still a lot off room under the garage door for lift/wheel space. :D back to the drawing board.

One thing is to forget about a roof rack if you only have 7' space.

with 4" of lift and a yakima megawarrior and 275 MTRs, i was able to fit in the garage.

however, with 4.5" of lift and a yakima megawarrior and 275 MTRs, i was not able to fit in the garage.

:D

now, with 4.5" of suspension lift, 1.25" of body lift, and 35" tires, i can be a garage for smaller vehicles. ;)

35" tires... woohooo...

Hey Route... what tires do you have on now? what body lift kit did you use? was it hard to put on? huh huh huh.... my tears of joy are pouring.... ahhhhhhh, 35"s.......

don't worry, i'll be posting pics soon, guys!!

for those who asked:

i'll be running the 315/70/17 BFG A/Ts ... which measure approximately 35"x12.5" ....

and the body lift is 1.25" from Roger Brown (he makes body lifts for most every year) ... Anthony is going to help me put it on tomorrow while he's here. i can do the suspension lift myself, just not so sure about the body lift. ;)

Hey guys, if I were to get a Revtek kit installed on my Runner would the install be reversible? Just in case I need to when/IF I sell it. Any guesses on difficulty compared to install?

opps, i've been posting them in another thread here, and one on YT too! on YT, look for something about "NE family christmas" or something to that effect. :)

Thanks you guys. Helpful as always. I have XREAS and was wondering if the extension causes any added strain on the shocks? You know, since the shocks now sit idle at a higher point. Does this mean that shock extension limits are shortened?

Yes, the lift will cause there to be less extension available because the shock will already be partially extended at rest once the lift kit is on. That's why we made the rear shock re-locators ... they re-locate the rear shock mount up about 2.5" from it's current position so those of us with XREAS don't lose any extension or risk over-extension.

Thanks 4Route. You seem very knowledgeable. I was planning on getting the Revtek Kit but I'm starting to lean more towards Nitrous Express. Do either of these have one up on each other or are they both pretty much the same? Here's what I'm looking for: A lift kit that's even but won't sag if I have heavy cargo in the back. Do either of these kits do that? I would also like the biggest spacer lift utilizing XREAS in a safe way (Ex: Re-Locs.) Which kit would you recommend? Size of lift, rear and front? Would I need anything else besides the spacers kit and re-locs? I will most likely be getting the BFG All-Terrain 265/70/17.
Thanks!
p.s. I saw the instructions for the re-locs. I take it that you don't have to drill a hole, they're already there? What are they for?

Fakie, this forum has asked us not to blatantly advertise here, so I will try to answer your questions as best I can, but if you want more info, I definitely encourage you to email me:

Anyway ... the problem with the Revtek kit is that it is very expensive and includes longer rear shocks. Since you have XREAS, you can't use the longer rear shocks from Revtek, so you are paying for something you won't even be able to use. I ran the Revtek kit for a long time, and that, along with the fact that it rusted, was the only real drawback. I worried about blowing the rear shocks because I hadn't yet found NE, Anthony hadn't yet come out with his re-loc design, and so I was stuck running a lift without any way to compensate for it in the rear. I still have my longer Revtek shocks laying around here!!! ;)

Anyway, the rusting, the price, and the fact that you're paying for longer rear shocks that you can't even use are the three drawbacks to the Revtek kit. That being said, our kit is made of polyurethane, so it will never rust ... our kit makes the lift compatible with XREAS ... and it more cost effective. It won't sag, period. That was one of our biggest concerns in designing the kit and deciding on the final spacer material. Our kit has a lifetime guarantee too, so if it EVER compresses, we will replace it at no cost to you. Similarly, if later on down the road you decide you'd like more lift, or less lift, just let me know and we'll make you some taller spacers and swap them out with you for free.

As far as height ... I have run the following combinations:

3" in front, 2.5" in rear
4" in front, 2.5" in rear
4.5" in front, 3.5" in rear

By far, my current 4.5" front, 3.5" rear kit is my favorite. With the rear shock re-locators mounting the shocks 2.5" above their original location, that 3.5" rear lift is basically the same as a 1" lift as far as the stock XREAS shocks are concerned (since 3.5" of extension minus 2.5" after re-location equals 1" of extension at rest).

My only concern for you would be that with the BFG 265/70s, you might think that they look a little small with 4" of lift. :D

As for the re-locs, you are correct -- you do NOT need to drill a hole - the holes are already there and if you look at the shock subframe from the back, you'll see the holes. I have NO idea why they are there, but Anthony and I joke that Toyota must've put them there knowing we'd all be lifting our trucks and re-locating our shocks. :D
