DC/VA/MD - Greenridge State Forest trail ride 28DEC16

Hey all,

The stars have somehow aligned and I'll be able to sneak away for a day trip out to GRSF on Wednesday after Christmas.

Right now it's just me in my truck and a buddy in his H1 Hummer, but figured I'd throw out an open invite to area members needing a break from extended family, kids, etc.

The plan is to meet in Frederick, MD in the morning, fuel up, then caravan West to GRSF. Snack/lunch on the trail, then motor back home late afternoon/evening.

For folks that haven't been there, GRSF is about 45,000 acres of mostly fire roads, some mud, a little rock, small hill climbs. Nothing a stock truck can't handle.

The state, in its infinite wisdom, closed the dedicated ORV trail there recently. Having said that, one of the two gates to this area has remained open for the last year and there are multiple other side trails that should keep things interesting.

If you're interested, reply here and I'll keep a tally so we don't leave without anyone that morning.

I might be in. Coming from Columbia, MD. Let you know tomorrow. The boss is always in a better mood on Fridays so I'll ask her then if I can ditch her and her parents and the kids on one of my few days of leave to go get the runner muddied up.

Put me down as a maybe. I'll be in town visiting family for the holidays but we are leaving to go up to Vermont for skiing the next day so I don't know if I'll be able to swing it (my kids spending time with grandparents and stuff). I'll know more this weekend once I get up to Maryland. I would also be driving from Columbia.

Sorry guys...I'm out for the 28th. Kids woke up sick this morning and now we had to rearrange plans with family. Hope you all have a blast and post up info about the ride. I'd love to check it out when I'm back in town for June/July (I'll be around for 3-4 weeks that trip and would love to get out more then).

No worries and completely understand. We'll be taking a couple of GoPros so should come back with some footage.

I'm admittedly pretty negligent on trip reports. Took a cross country trip in the new truck this summer and have yet to post about that trip yet (despite taking a ton of pics and videos). Worst case I'll post back with some links out to YouTube for some trail vids from next week.

Good luck with the sick little one, safe travels home, and give me a shout when you're headed back up and we'll get out somewhere.
