Dealer Discount & Remote Starter

I just left my local dealer (Adam's Toyota, Kansas City) and they hooked me up with a 25% discount when I joined the national Toyota Land Crusier club. It was 25 bucks and I got $40 in discounts on the stuff I ordered. Might be worth checking out in your area...

I also picked up a CompuStar remote starter (it was 2 degrees this morning - ouch). It was $75 with the discount, they want $300 to install (4 hours). It apparently is approved by Toyota and works with the existing 4th gen alarm. I lose no functionality including the immobilizer. I'll let you know how it works once installed. Pics of the install will be posted.

PS: If I'm still getting robbed, let me know!

so the total for the remote starter including install is $375? if so, to me you're getting robbed. sorry. when i bought my truck it did not come with an alarm, but the dealer informed me that they send all there cars down the street to a shop that installs the systems for them. the manager at the dealer was surprisingly frank and said that it costs more for them to send it down the street than for me to drive it there myself after i buy it. so i accepted, and when i went there there were lots of other toyota cars (still with price tags) getting their alarms installed. the place charged $200 for the alarm, and another $200 for the starter. so this is why i think you're getting ripped off. just my .02 cents. :)

Thanks for input, I felt the same way. They price on the starter was good after checking around so I will attempt myself or there is a great installation shop I trust and it will be cheaper. The downside is that the dealer was actually going to warranty it, so may have been worth something. I will post when it's done.
