Dealer programming changes?

So I started a list of things I want the dealership to re-program when I take it in for the 1st, 6 month maintenance:

1] disable the Eco-display

2] disable the panic button on the key

3]?

4]?...

What other things should be on my list?

Thanks,

Some dealers won't disable safety functions like seat belt alarm and panic button, due to potential liability issues.

I'm going to have them disable the seatbelt alarm, and have the keyfob roll down all four windows.

Try pushing unlock twice on your keyfob, and hold it down for a few seconds on the second push until they start to go down. My dealer told me they couldn't program the fob to do anything (lie)... a couple months later I accidentally discovered this trick. Might not work for everyone, but give it a shot.

Edit: Or spend 20 bucks for the Carista app and change whatever you want.

Instructions for disabling the Green ECO light display is somewhere in the owner's manual, you can do that yourself.

Edited info-
It should read- remove the Eco display.

The Eco light need to be turned off via the DISP settings on the steering wheel and dash.

In addition you can removed the display all together also, I did it with Carista (note Carista won't turn off the light.

Yes you can disable its on your own,

I just bought the Carista. Seemed easier than remembering to ask the dealer to do something I might want changed later.

Also - the Eco thing, I was hoping it was gonna stop that annoying green light from coming on. :(

ECO light can be disabled using the DISP button on steering wheel. Cycle through to Settings, hold button to choose, select ECO lamp and turn it off.

Seriously? I swore I tried and that it was something others said annoyingly couldn't be disabled.

Sweet!!

Thanks!

another programming change I'd like is to have the radio continue to play after the ignition is turned off yet still in the T4R.

The ECO light can be disabled yourself, directions in manual.

The ECO bar graph can be disabled via TechStream or by just shifting into '5' instead of 'D'.

I had the following options disabled / enabled by a guy on TW who has pirated TechStream software. He did it for free at a wheeling meet:

-ECO graph
-Seat belt chime
-Auto door lock (when shifted to drive) (this can also be done following directions in manual using a button sequence)
-All windows roll down with remote

I forgot to have him mute the lock / unlock beep.

While you're tinkering you may as well disable the DRL and reprogram the background picture on the Entune. Neither of those are TechStram related but are easy enough via button programming functions or bending a pin on a relay...

My Eco light goes off after I pass 90mph...so there's always that option. And I didn't have to program anything...

Yea. I'm an idiot. Have you ever not been able to find something literally right under your nose? This was one of those moments. :|

Agree, I would like it to stay on for 30-45 seconds after car turned off. I also need to have them change the headlights to turn off immediately when the car is off. I am too lazy to go back to the dealership though.

I have a LE so I had them program to open all doors when grabbing the drivers handle. One broken nail on the wife was all it took.

Does anyone know what "Mechanical key linked operation" means for the power window functions?

I also own a VW and I am able to put my key in the drivers door and turn and hold in the unlocked position to lower all the windows. Its really handy. I am hopping that I can activate it on my 4Runner

Whoa...is this a thing they can do? I'm somewhat new here, and hadn't ever seen that. Does anyone know if this is only for the regular keyed ignition models or does it work for Smart Key (limiteds) as well?

Exact same as the VW, yes. You can either open them or close them with the key in the driver door. Can also have them set it so you can roll down your side windows (and open sunroof, if you've got one) with your remote if you'd like. Can not roll them up with the remote though - you have to use the key or get in and use the switches.
