They do have larger rotors than the sr5 and SOME limiteds. Not sure how they decided which limiteds got the bigger brakes, some do and some don't.

Well they told me the sports have a hood scoop and the SR5's and Limited's dont...

brakes rotors and calipers 2003 limited 4 runner
Hey, very infrequent poster to this forum - only because my 4runner is tight! 180,000 plus miles and rolling strong.
In Sep 2010, I had to replace front brakes, calipers and rotors. pads are toyota, rotors and calipers aftermarket - toyota did not have them in stock when I needed them.
In for my 5k oil change last week, tech notices the pads were not fully sitting on the rotors. In other words, the diameter of the rotor, at first glane seemed 1/4 inch too short. Alternatively, the calipers may be wrong causing the caliper to mount 1/4 too far away from the rotor.
I purchased new rotors and pads from toyota, but the rotors are exactly the same size as the aftermarket rotors.
I phoned toyota, there is only one rotor and one caliper for this model - according to the book. Any help in the right direction would be great!

Hi. I don't know the part numbers, hopefully one will post it, but this is incorrect. Not sure who you talked to, but the SPORT has larger rotors and have a different part number.
I usually remember this type things, but since I haven't replaced them; they have not managed to ingrain themselves into my brain.

Smallest that you would be able to run are 16's.

Not completely true, the diesel versions of the limited did come with the hood scoop.
