Dealer vs gasket

I just got back from Toy Dealer and showed them the oil on the Transfer case. They said the gasket at the end on transfer case where it comes to meet the driveline that's where its leaking. BUT they said its not covered under warranty due to the lift.

Opinions?

$300 fix- part is like $14 gasket, its all labor.

That's a very good possibility.

It doesn't have to be fixed at the dealer. Find a good independent or a local tranny specialists.

If you have time and the ability buy the gasket, or an RTV sealant and repair it yourself.

I'm not sure why without crawling under the truck but the book says that the transmission and T-case have to come out together in order to change any of the seals.

Says it's a 5.6 hour job.

If you feel like fighting them, unless they can prove the lift is the cause of the fluid leak they can't deny the claim if it is within warranty.

You have it backwards...they don't have to prove anything. All they have to do is SAY it caused the problem..Not it's up to the OP to PROVE it wasn't the cause. This is a court of law.

I got it fixed by an independent shop along with other PM items. They did a great job and at a fair price. I have no problem paying for it knowing the job is done right. Now I can enjoy my vacation in Key Largo. arty:
