Dealer Warranties - Best place to get them

I wanted to share my aftermarket warranty experience with everyone, as hopefully people will review this forum before buying a 4runner and will atleast go to the Dealership, armed with knowledge.

I bought a 2011 SR5 4x4 last night and thought I got a good price and then came the part to talk to the finance guy. He offered me a 8yr / 100k warranty for his "cost" of $1,500. Unfortunately for him, his "cost sheet" that he showed me said, "MSRP" in small letters on the bottom left. Even after I pointed that out, he was still undeterred, and insisted it was his cost.

I pulled out my iphone did a quick search and found a dealership in Hutchinson, KS that sells FACTORY warranties to ANYONE in the US.

Their price for a 8yr/100k warranty for a 4x4SR5 4runner is $1,039, and if you live anywhere but, KS, you pay ZERO taxes. I told the dealer that was the price to beat, and he said he would get back to me.

My dealer might match the price. I am giving him till 2pm today central time. After that, I am buying from Midwest Superstore Toyota in KS.

I bought my warranty from Midwest Toyota. I got the 8 year 125k mile Plantimum Warranty. I hope I never have to use it.

The sales guy (I think it was Jerry Johnson) was A-OK.

That is what I did too, I went to the dealership armed with a price sheet I found online and my dealer matched the price. Also, if you're not buying it at the time you buy the vehicle, you just have to make sure that you buy it before you hit 3yr or 36k miles.

I also used Troy. It was painless and all done over the phone. I saved $1,000 from my local dealer price.

Having read this forum before purchase I was prepared. I showed my slsmgr the internet pricing and said, you'll be doing the service, you might as well sell me this. He asked me for $50 over the inet price (nicely) and I agreed.

I also got the 8 year 125k mile Platinum Warranty from Midwest Toyota. Jerry Johnson gave me the best price when I checked around.
