Deckplate Mod? questions on how big can it get?

So Today i was playing with the Air Box.SO I left the lid Open for 30 mins and drove around and i liked the way it sound. The Point was to see If i could handle the noise but i just love it!Now What i want to do is Put a 6-7 Inch Rectangular shape Cut. Is this Okay or am i going OverBoard? i live in Houston and i dont do no Off-roading or River Crossing to go save Jeeps or Ridgelines.

Most guys do the 4 or 5 inch diameter because the marine shops sell those size, if you could find a bigger size insert go for it. I think the deck plate mod is a waste, it's basically for the sound only, only gives a few HP gain.

its that size because thats the biggest that can fit a deck plate on the front of the airbox

Yes

The overall size of a 4" deck plate with the bracket is around 6"s around. If you do this mod its best to reset the ECU by either removing the negative cable on the battery or the ECU fuse for a few minutes and then replacing it which resets the ECU.

Driving with the airbox open is the route I go, it's like a temporary deck plate mod, although there's no cutting of the stock airbox so if you feel like selling it you don't have to replace the airbox.

You wouldn't have to replace it anyways? If they didn't want it open just screw the top back into the deck plate.
