Dedicated build thread forum?

I like browsing other gen's build threads, but they can be hard to find if you don't follow the other subforums closely. Would there be anything terribly wrong with having a section just for build threads?

I agree with you. I like to see ALL build threads... I'm not sure many other people do this but I always just click "new posts"

I believe the perfect section for a dedicated build thread would either be on its own or as a subforum heading in the Gallery.

thoughts?
 
I was just thinking this same thing yesterday. Such a specific topic, one that many members find extremely useful in their own projects, would be a great one to put in its own section. Doing searches for these can be quite a pain.
 
We have a sticky in the 4th gen forum also now, but it isn't very comprehensive.

Isn't the gallery sub forum for build threads?

I guess there are a lot of random pics in there but it seems like a lot of builds are in there too.

This would be easiest and any member (including you KidV :wink2:) could compile it. I think this, combined with stickies for each gen in their forum would be easiest.

The 'list in gen forum' would be easy, but if you include pics (like we have in the gen specific build sticky) it would be a huge thread that'd be difficult to navigate.

The next step is getting people to actually post their builds in there..
 
If each sub forum had their own build thread sticky (set up like the 5th Gen) that was locked and maintained by a Mod, we could have a "master build thread sticky" with links to each sub-forum's sticky.

This would eliminate any maintenance to the master sticky.


Just a suggestion!

I don't mind maintaining a master sticky. My personal preference would be to have all the links in one place, instead of having to click through multiple threads, is that just me?

So, what exactly should we post on that link?

Post with a link to our build thread and you will add it under the heading? Is that correct?

That was my thought, yeah. That way folks don't have to go through a particular forum or scroll through 50 posts to find a particular thread, I'll just maintain a list of links for quick reference and we'll see if that works.

Seriously though thanks for doing that. Not sure if you posted that after you saw my post or you came up with that on your but it will be nice to have a comprehensive list of who has builds.

I dunno how many times I've recalled a mod I was interested in and part/all of the members name but not their thread title, or misspelled a username in the search.

Based on what? Number of views or number of clicks would be slanted towards the older threads as much as the more frequently visited ones. And any polling of the forum members would be more of a popularity contest than an actual indicator of which threads are more valuable, don't you think?
 
Number of posts. I posted a list of some of the most popular 3rd gen builds, but of course there are new ones that have yet to grow.

Idk, it was just a suggestion, figured you'd run with it and come up with your own way of deciding, ye master of master-build-thread...thread.
