Defective Side Door Window Rubber - exterior

Has anyone had they exterior door window rubber damaged due to age? It's called the "Belt Molding" on the parts sites. I had thought one had been damaged from a break in attempt in 2015 and replaced it, now I noticed that the 3 I did not replace are all damaged. My 4Runner is a 2011 and I've owned since new and I live in the SF Bay Area in California so it is in a relatively mild climate.

So I’m not the only one then, I couldn’t find any other posts about it. It’s way too soon, I’ve had cars 20-30 years old that are fine.

I use Imgur since I do a lot of sharing on sites like Reddit, and it's easy to share from either my phone gallery or Google Photos. Plus, you can add letters to the end of URL's to resize it so it doesn't stretch out the forum, without altering the original image - for example, take this URL:

https://i.imgur.com/uacLcmY.jpg

and add these letters before the ".jpg":

s = Small Square (90×90)
b = Big Square (160×160)
t = Small Thumbnail (160×160)
m = Medium Thumbnail (320×320)
l = Large Thumbnail (640×640)
h = Huge Thumbnail (1024×1024)

Like so:

etc. etc.

Correct you're not the only one. I agree I've seen a lot of older cars that never had belt moulding/window seal issues. Order the new ones and pop them in; for some reason the early 5th gens had crappy rubber :/

My 2010 SR5’s window rubber has disintegrated on all 5 openable windows. That is one of the only disappointments I’ve had with my truck; well that and the fact that I couldn’t get a small turbo-diesel...

I guess I'll just have to bit the bullet and buy new ones, I guess only time will tell if they revised the compound to prevent this from happening again
