On the beach in the rain. The only place to be! Just wanted to share. I have gotten a ton of useful information from this forum! Here is my 2007 Sport, as it is currently set up.
My Westin Bull Bar finally rusted out after its short, useless life, so I sold it on craigslist. Then I picked up a Defiant short tube light bar.. It is very well built and is perfect for my needs- holding lights, tying down bow lines of racked kayaks, and keeping people off my bumper. There is no wiggle in my driving light beam whatsoever, and when you shake the bar, the rest of the truck shakes. Rock solid!
I also started getting bored of the look of my grille, so I picked up some Krylon Fusion Satin Black and painted the inside and bottom chrome pieces on my grille. I left the outside piece, I think it looks kind of cool and nicely frames the driving lights. I took off the grill and removed the center piece, and popped out the Toyota emblem. I sprayed it with like 10 or 12 light coats, waiting about 15 minutes between each one. I think it came out great! When it cures I'm going to spray it with Fusion clear coat satin.
Other mods to my truck- I removed the factory roof rack crossbars and put on Thule Crossbars. Much better looking IMO and much more functional. I switch off between bike racks, kayak carriers and a combination of both. I picked up two sets of Thule Hull-A-Port Pros. They are J racks that fold down when not in use.
I'm on my second set of Dueler Revos. I also keep a shackle on my trailer hitch, I did the full time 12V mod, and I put a red bulb in the driver's side map light. It lets me do stuff at night (read maps and directions, change lenses, etc.,) without ruining my night vision.
Next I'm going to do the fog light mod, figure out some storage solutions, and I think I'll be all set! No lifts for me in the forseeable future. Maybe some day...
