Definitely not a good day at all.

Glad to see you are ok. I will respectfully disagree with you in that there is A LOT of damage to your truck. I'm not in the insurance business, but I'll willing to bet money your rig is done. Time to find another one.

Be safe.

What a huge bummer. I had one jump out in front of me while pulling my trailer last week. Missed 'er by about two feet. I just hit the brakes and waited for it. Sorry you weren't as lucky as I was.

Although trucks are nice and the Chevy looks great and the new GMCs are clean. I would argue the 4runner is going to be more reliable, and they are not the norm for modded trucks thus they can look cooler then just another lifted truck.
Either way let us know what ya get and I hope ya stick with Toyota. . .seeing as it did save your life once already.

Glad you are ok. As everyone else has said, the runner's crossed the rainbow bridge. :rip:

I see everyone saying plow into the deer, and I've always heard that... but when the time comes and SOMETHING is all-of-a-sudden in your way, your instinct is to avoid a collision. It's hard to make yourself go ahead and smash into it in that split instant.

Several years back, I was driving from Pensacola FL to Little Rock AR. I've always favored driving at night, but of course, that's when most animals are out as well. I lost count just South of Memphis at 150 deer. The deer that was standing in the middle of the road, that I barely missed by mere inches, indeed made me swerve. I missed it by no more than a couple inches, but I honestly don't know if I could have driven into it, simply due to muscle memory. Your body is programmed to swerve.

All late advice of course, but yes don't swerve. The action of swerving requires similar traction to that of cornering. Braking also requires traction. It's not as significant as motorcycle dynamics but you still don't have enough traction to brake and swerve at high speeds at the same time. A straight line brake is a much shorter stop.

Bears, cows, moose, and hogs should be avoided. Too much mass. Deer are smaller. Sad, but if there's a choice, take the deer vs the ditch.

Yeah man you're right there not gonna argue about the reliable part. I miss having a truck. I don't really like the Tundras for some reason. I have rode in em. Plenty of space, but just something about em I don't like.

If I go back with Toyota it'll be a 4Runner for sure. The newest 5th gens look so badass, if I got one. I'd get black for sure.

Glad you are ok bud.

New aluminum ford raptor? 2017 4Runner redesign should pick up the new Tacoma parts (released today from embargo I believe). 3.5l Atkinson v6, plus or minus deets on a light duty diesel. So many options...

Thanks bud, ahhh I would never buy a Ford.
I can't afford anything brand new though.
Hard to tell, what I'm going to get.

A CC truck would fit me with everything that I do.

Well, insurance just called me. Said, my 4Runner was a total loss. Kinda figured that.

Least it will be paid off after insurance pays for it, won't be getting much back, but it's better then nothing.

Now it's time to start looking for a Tundra or another GM truck.

No one was hurt and the insurance company paid out. So, all in all, that was as good an outcome as possible.
