Delayed shift to drive after NSS replacement

Need some help.
I changed out my neutral safety switch, and now I have a few-second delay when I shift from P to D. It doesn't occur when shifting from N to D.

I made sure the transmission was in neutral when I put the new one on and aligned the tick mark.

Before I changed it, it shifted without problem, although it was a little stiff, and my dash was lit up.

I notice the screw slot is elongated, and I'm wondering if I have to make a subtle adjustment in positioning to make this go away.

Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated.

How many miles on the transmission? What prompted you to replace the neutral back-up safety switch?

Delayed engagement is usually due to low transmission fluid pressure. Could happen due to low fluid level, but also could be due to worn pump.

The transmission worked fine until I changed the NSS. I changed it because my dash lights were lit, the gear shifter was a little hard to shift, and the D was missing. The same thing happened earlier in the year, and I sprayed the NSS with some penetrating oil and everything cleared right up. It shifted regularly after spraying, and the shifter was smooth again.
I decided to change it before it happened again.
When I have time this weekend, I'll align the NSS and see if the resolves the issue.
