Delete CAT or replace?

New to me 93 4runner with over 300k on the clock. From looking at the cat, it looks original or at lease OE replacement. In the event it is clogged, would I be better off replacing or deleting? I know its ethical to replace it but Im curious of I would see any gains from deleting.

The system is fairly primitive so a deleted cat isn't going to do much. Honestly replace it. It's the right thing to do anyways. You can ignore me but i'm just saying man.

I hear ya. Im not trying to do the wrong thing, just curious about the outcome. Is there someplace to get a stock replacement at a good price? Cheapest I've found is around $90.

I deleted mine instead of replacing it. Vehicles in general are a small footprint on the pollution so I'm not worried about it. I would suggest to delete it unless you are worried about the legality of it.

Deleting the cat would only give you a small gain of a few hp 7-10, OE replacement is good or if you really want to to feel better for the person driving behind you and some hp gains pick up a high flow cat.

I deleted my cat about a year ago when the old one started rattling. I have not noticed any performance gains or MPG difference.
The only thing I noticed was the exhaust especially under load is a little louder and the exhaust coming out of the pipe definitely has a stronger odor than with the cat.

Just for the record, this topic has been asked numerous times, and I'm sure could be found with a search. Anyway, just go with a high-flow cat and get the best of all worlds--better flow, cleaner air, and it's legal. By the way, $90 is a very reasonable price for a cat--they can easily cost a few hundred.

I deleted mine a few years ago, I actually got about 40 HP, that and my T4R.org sticker, I'm pushin 550 to the crank :gun6::gun6::gun6:



Seriously, as long as you don't get a ticket dont worry about just deleting it.

No emissions in Yuma, Az but Im sure this isnt the last place the USMC has for me to live before I get out.
