deleting cats

So there's quite a bit of info about headers and mufflers for different tones, high end low end torque etc.
Has anybody ran short tube headers with a custom cat delete to the y pipe? If so have you installed the urd "offroad" y pipe to delete the second cats as well? If so do you swap out your y pipe with the oem one for emissions? I'm not in Cali but Maricopa county AZ. is somewhat strict.
I'm indeed hunting for more torque but I drive 50 miles daily @ 70mph. And I'm sure 456 gears would be money better spent considering you have to get the stuff to tune the exhaust with the computer but I'm just not sure. Mostly I'd like to know if anyone has done their exhaust like this, thanks

If you don't mind the extra weight, you can get a set of exhaust cutouts and put them before the cats, then just run a pipe around the cats and back into the exhaust towards the back. Let it run through the cats during emissions testing or when you don't want the extra exhaust noise, and let it bypass when you want the extra flow. Or just leave the cutouts open if you don't mind the noise. :D

I'm trying to convince myself I dont need headers, a y pipe, and the tuner. Which engine do you have and what year?

I have an 05 V8 with doug thorley headers, no cats and dual exhaust. I can say I will never install the cats again unless the government makes me.

I have a new in box set of Doug Thorley long tube headers. They wont fit my 16 T4R. They fit only, 2005-11 Tacoma / 2007-12 FJ Cruiser / 2003-12 4Runner, 4.0L. Going to sell or trade them. Bought new never got around to installing them on my FJ that I sold.

Sounds awesome. I'll pass for now, well how much? Everything I've read has said short tube headers help low end torque incredibly. I want to know if anybody has installed short tube headers and deleted the first catalytic converters followed by URDs performance offroad y pipe. If so, how's emissions?

Sooooo....anyone with long tube headers and the URD offroad y-pipe? Assuming the bung plugs are installed for the 02 sensors, how was emissions and how strict are they in your area? I'm in Maricopa county Az. Hopefully somebody close by can give me an idea. Thanx
