Owned 3 so far.........

In 88, when I was 25 I bought my first one 1987 - 1st Gen, used with about 50K miles in it. I drive it until it had over 210k miles on it, but it was getting tired so I traded in on a brand new 3rd Gen in 1999.

12 years later I was wanting a new one real bad, but I wasn't ready to let go of my 3rd Gen, so I went out and bought a new 2011 Trail.

I still have them both and wouldn't have it any other way.

I guess my plan is every 12 years whether I need it or not........

46, biochemist, married with 2 kids. Got the 4runner as my boss at my current job has a heavily modded Taco and told me of all his travels, I drove a Forester at the time for trips. I didn't learn to drive til I was 27 (when I moved here from the UK).

My first 4x4 was a Land Rover 88 ( 1968 ) . my only concession to age has been to comfort. Current vehicle is an 18 Limited magnetic grey.

Been with Toyota since my 78 SR5....first 4Runer in 88 and kept for 13 years and no problems with the 3.slow other than the lack of torque! ""Upgraded'' to a 5.9 Durango and it had the POWER and everything I wanted!.......except the Toyota reliability!....back to a 5th Gen in 16! Very happy with it in all respects but the mushy brakes. Yeah.....I'm old, but I will never drive a frickin' 4 door Buick!:hand:

48, engineer, DINK, moved to Lake Tahoe last year and the Grand Cherokee wasn't quite cutting it. I really wanted to make a Taco work but it's just too small to be a "real" truck (wouldn't fit my sled) and a Tundra was just a bit too big. 4Runner with a trailer for toys was the best compromise.
