Is that correct? That is the design flaw I am talking about. What about my 6th or 7th or 8th playlist?

The first 5 playlists are easily accessable as CDs 1 thru 5 through the buttons on the head unit or the steering wheel controls. The 6th CD takes you to the icelink setup menu.

You can also change the icelink mode so that it can be controlled thru the ipod's standard interface. Whatever songs you play on the ipod are played thru the stereo. I believe you can still use the stereo controls to advance songs, etc. The drawback of this mode is that you don't get the text display on the HU so you have to have the ipod accessible. I keep mine in the storage compartment below the heating controls. I have not personally tried this mode yet.

In the icelink setup menu you can choose other playlists. I have found this set up menu diffucult to use when you are sitting in the garage. No way you are going to use it while driving.

You have to remember that the icelink is emulating a 6 disc cd changer. The head unit only supports 6 discs so that's all you are going to get out of these things.

If you read earlier in this thread, there is speculation that the artist info on the text display does not get updated between songs because the head unit assumes all songs on a CD are for the same artist. This is only speculation as far as I know.

I have seen somewhere (on dension website I think) that they have done firmware updates for other vehicles to have the icelink setup menu appear on the text display of the head unit. This would perhaps make it more usable.

Also, if you have a different HU than I have (jbl single disc unit), you may get different results.

I know Dension staff do read these forums so it would be nice if they would post info on what they are working on for upcoming firmware releases ;):
 
thanks again, you have been much help. I like to keep my Ipod availble to scroll and do what ever I want. I am glad i can still do this.

Looks like I will be buying myself another early present, the runner was the first.

Ok, so I have another question.

Well first off I just found out what I thought was a single cd player in the deck is actually a 6 disc in dash changer. I assume that the ice link will still work, am I correct?

Call Dension... is this the type of cd player where the changer is in your glove box?

You will need to call dension. I really do not know. I am not sure how you could differentiate between IPOD and cd changer if both are plugged in. However, I am sure someone solved this problem.

Just BE CAREFUL that you do not mount it (using screws) to the passenger air bag... someone did this while installing at circuit city...

I like to use steering wheel controls... it would really rock if you could do both... i dont see why you can't
 
Well for everyone to know, the Dension, will NOT work with the 06 Navigations E7007, E7008..

It locks up the internal CD Changer.

Well it doesn't work with the 2002 GS430, (the box says 2003+) so, what can I say... It is for sale..

So does the dension Ice link display text for the Single Disc JBL cd player? People have been like.. yes I just press the text button..... I don't remember a text button on my Single Disc JBL.... hmmm... enlighten me oh great people?

I've seen the ones with the navigation.. oh it looks sooooo sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes the Dension does display text, but apparently there is a bug that it only shows the first song's title.

I was hoping to buy it, but I'm going to wait till the next firmware release to see if they fix it. I'll just have to continue with my PIE unit....
