Dented Rear Shocks

I bought these shocks used from a forum member. When they arrived I noticed they were dented from where the previous owner gripped them to remove them. Will this affect the performance of the shock?

It seems like the outer sleeve piece that is dented is protective and not part of the shock piston but I just wanted to get another opinion before installing.

They are KYB gas a justs.

I would be very surprised if it impacts anything, seem to be very shallow and almost superficial.

That's just a rock guard for the shaft. If the shock compresses without the tube contacting the rock guard you're good to go.
