Destroyed My Key Fob

Well, I ordered one of the all-in-one keys from ebay and just got it. My local Ace cut it for free and it programmed with no issues. Thought the trunk button might work the back window, but that's not the case. Build quality is not the greatest, so I ordered a new shell from amazon for $5. One of the things the key is lacking is the rubber button guard that sits behind the buttons, so I'm assuming the weather resistance isn't all that great. The new shell comes with one.

I hear that longevity is an issue as some people have noted it has stopped working within a few weeks. We'll see what happens. I plan on using it when I just want to go a bit lighter and not have my normal key chain with all the other keys and such when not needed.

Just a little update. If any of you guys are thinking of getting the all-in-one key ( [MENTION=44831]JohnsD90[/MENTION] ), don't bother. They're junk. Mine died within a few days and I barely used it.

Died as in it stopped working. No little light when you press any of the buttons. I fiddled around with the battery a bit as I heard some people had issues with it not staying snug in the case, but no change. Emailed the seller and he suggested I buy a new battery and put it in. I told him I'm not doing that. No way should a battery die within that time and I have a feeling that if I were to do that, it would die sometime down the road past the point where I can return it.

That Sucks! I was really hoping someone would find a replacement to the old tired design of the originals...

One thing I found when searching for a spare remote is that if you type in the FCC ID on the back of the FOB (mine is HYQ1512V) it comes up with a cool lexus fob with the wrong type of key...

Are you talking about the OEM style key fob or the one pictured just above that has the key build into the fob?

Yeah, the OEM-style one I got still works great. It's that all-in-one key and FOB that died fast.

It's a knockoff. I don't think Toyota actually made an all-in-one key like that for our key blank.
