DFW Area Recommendations for Lift Installation on a Limited

Greetings everyone,

Does anyone have any recommendations on a shop in the DFW area that isn't afraid to work on a Limited with XREAS?

I'm thinking about going with an OME lift and was hoping to find a reputable shop to perform the work, unless there's a gearhead in the area who wants to help with the installation (Beer as payment, of course).

Edit: I actually revised my plans and ordered an Icon Stage 5 kit.

4wheel parts in coppell off 121 and Sandylake Rd. if its not too far, just ask for Doug Baker and say Rick or Parker sent you, he should help you out and he's a good longtime friend. But just dont get help from a guy named Michael (he's the definition of stupid)

I called up TRD Parts 4 U today and Jacque is on vacation. I spoke with a lady over the phone and she recommended a shop called Baer Trax.

However, I spoke with another lady at Baer Trax (the owner/main dude is away for family bereavement) and she said they have yet to work on any 4Runners there.

I wish I lived near Ducmonsta's shop.

You spoke to Barb. She knows her stuff. I personally will vouch for BearTrax. You don't know me from anybody else on this forum but I can guarantee you just because they haven't worked on a 4Runner doesn't mean they can't do it. They have done plenty of work on FJ's and that is the same suspension platform, but I understand your hesitation with the XREAS.


Also I don't care what anyone says on this forum, stay the eph away from 4 Wheel Parts, most of their install guys don't know their head from their ass.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. I haven't ruled out Baer Trax just yet. I'm waiting on them to get back to me with an estimate/gameplan.

I guess I really shouldn't have that much hesitation with the XREAS system since it has to be removed completely anyway. I just don't want it damaged upon removal.

Have you considered doing it yourself? I mean we have the factory repair manual here with step by step instructions and a bunch of threads about removing XREAS here on the forum.Used XREAS suspension doesn't have much resale value anyways and not many put it back on once going aftermarket. Mine is out back in my shed with the Toytec 2" spacer still on it and probably will never go back on.

I have a hard time finding the time to work on my own truck.Next weekend is my last weekend before I leave to drive back East to Pittsburgh on the 29th and then West to Ouray from there so I've got to change oil and start packing. I'll be gone over a month having to be back to work on July 30th .

When I get back I can help you by showing you(pointing,lol) what you need to do and hand you the tools but you do the actual work and learn. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime theory! It's pretty hot and humid in the summer here in Texas for me to be doing any serious wrenching . Heck ,I was sweating my arse off last weekend just finishing up my wiring for my locker switches.

I've got a big garage and all the tools.........time is my problem! Sunday's are best for me as my daughters both are involved in sports and/or I work overtime on Saturdays.

Does your TE have KDSS? forget about it!!
Just kidding!I've already installed a Toytec Ultimate lift on a KDSS TE and had my fingers crossed but it came out OK . Twas a bee atch to get the sway bar back in place. I think I have a better understanding now and we can document it with pics and videos.

Icon is a much better suspension IMO and I still love mine 2 + years and 40k miles later.

Texas Truxx did mine in Lewisville, i have a 2011 Limited. Getting UCA installed tmw at Rock and Roll Outfitter will let you know

I've seen Texas Truxx' website and have heard a few good things about them from the Ford/Chevy scene.

Were you happy with their work? Which system did you have installed there?

Harper... my 4runner doesn't have KDSS. I just saw that Overland Warehouse is closed now though. I have the LR UCA's already and I was planning on getting the OW2.5. Back to the drawing board I guess. Any recommendations?

I'm not towing or hauling heavy things. It would be for looks and clearance. I don't really want to get bigger tires just because of the mpg. I do a lot of driving... 12k in 5 months so far.

i'm from DFW, and a handful of my friends have used them before and they all like the service they got. They also able to get every rig within spec for alignment.

I had my lift installed today by Pablo and the crew at Tandem Automotive in Fort Worth and they are a first class outfit!!!

These guys did a great job on my rig and are extremely knowledgeable on all things Toyota. While I was there saw a tricked out 4th Gen they had worked on.
