Did a tuneup on my Camry, made a mistake-chime in

Alright. I went ahead and did a basic tuneup.

Wires.

Plugs

Distributor cap

Rotor

Air filter

Fuel filter

After I popped all of it together, and in correctly, with all wires going to the correct plugs (4-3-2-1), it runs like crap at idle under load, IE putting it into R and holding the brake. RPMs drop and it shakes like it's going to die.

The cause is I failed to adjust the timing.

Correct?

Damn, Rotor? What year? is there a Check engine light? Did it flash?

If you have the wire in the correct firing order, yes, next step is to adjust the timing.

Are you sure you didn't pop a vacuum line off somewhere? Easy to do and it'd run like crap if you did.

Sounds like what I did to my wifes old car. After changing the plugs it was having similar symptoms, after staring at the engine for 4 hours a tow to the shop and a $100 "diagnostic fee" it turns out I had two of the wires flipped. I just paid the one hundred dollars and left, im sure the mechanics got a good laugh.

Turns out it was a plug that was grounded out.
