Did anyone else do this when they mounted their B&M 70268?

The send and return line steel-to-hose connections were going to be a pain in the ass to get to, so rather than cut the steel lines back further where I could access them, I used these brass threaded barbed fittings that came with the cooler. Obviously I've got 3 additional spots for a leak, which isn't great, but it's something I'm not uncomfortable with. Thoughts?

All of the writeups I've seen about installing these coolers don't include a section about burping the cooler. Am I correct in assuming that need not be done?

I didn't. I do things the hard way, so to the lines they went with a significant amount of time and patience:banplease:.

I have a Hayden cooler and spliced the lines like that. 45K miles on mine, and another 60K or so on my previous 4Runner with no problems or leaks. No burping needed. It's not a sealed system (think 'dipstick').

I installed a 70266 and did not have a jack or jack stands so I could not run new line all the way back to the steel connections so I used a double nipple off the original lines and clamped them. Yes another point of failure but I did not have any leaks or other issues and about 10k miles later when I had my new radiator put in, I asked the stealership to put in new lines which they did for free.

I just followed the lines from the radiator to where they connected to hard pipe and installed mine on there with hose clamps. Wasn't the easiest thing in the world to do but not the hardest.

I did the same. Right at the crossmember. Wasn't too hard. The only leak I had was from my T-fitting for my temp sensor, but that's because I had forgotten to tighten the sensor all the way.

Thanks for the replies! I don't imagine people have had too many leaks installing these things, and if they do they're easy enough to find. I'm pretty comfortable having the double nipple clamped twice on every side.

Now I just need my ScanGauge to arrive before I drive back to the Yukon...

Hardest part was pushing the hose that comes with the kit on as it's a hair smaller than stock. When my magnefine filter gets here I'll upgrade it to 3/8" but otherwise it was a simple install.

Yeah, I went 3/8 right off the bat. Didn't use the supplied smaller line. It made the install much easier.

I was just lazy and didn't want to go to the store. I'm not worried about anything bad happening but if I'm going to be cutting the line to install the filter I might as well go ahead and change it out.

I did the same. I like to refer to them as "quick disconnect" lol.
