Diff breather?

Flooding in the area had me thinking that I should install a diff breather (Snorkel too? lol).

What's your setup? ARB? Other?

What are you venting? Rear only? Center? Front? Trans?

4th or 5th gen, then you should only need to vent the rear as the fronts are up high in the engine bay. I used the OEM Breather plug (90930-03136) routed up to the fuel door using 5/16th fuel line. You'll also need the union (90404-51319)

2007 so 4th gen.

So the front, center and trans are all safe but the rear should be addressed. What did you use for a filter?

FWIW, I ran mine up toward the fuel door but didn’t route it through to the fuel door compartment. Why? It’s unlikely to ever be an issue but the idea of venting hot vapors into a closed space right next to the gas filler neck gave me pause. Probably an unnecessary overabundance of caution but since there’s no advantage to having it one place or the other as long as it’s high enough not to be submerged so I kept it below the rubber buffer.

While I prefer oem parts the Plug, Breather could be better. This style can get plugged at the floating cap from Offroad use. Mud can easily block the cap from venting. The Toyota style is better than others.

I like the ARB style axle vent. I accomplished the same thing for $10 on my Offroad Jeep. I ran hose from the rear axle to the top of the fire wall. Then used a clear plastic fuel filter with the arrow pointing to atmosphere. These filters are designed to allow fuel flow one way. They are designed to block water and dirt. ARB style looks nice. My way is cheap, reliable and easy to spot check.
