Difference between 4lo and 4hi in low gear?

I know I'm digging up this up from several years back , but thanks for this. I had been wondering about this for quite some time. So is there any meaningful difference between the power characteristics of 4L in 3rd vs. 4H in 1st? Or are they functionally identical?

Cant think of application for 3rd 4L. 4H 1st possibly but I'm often in 4h 2 and if 4l then 1st or 2d

There is a small difference on paper. Lo range 3rd is slightly lower but functionally you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference.

As I think I recall from running them through a gear calculator and backed up by observation, at around 15mph there is a difference of about 1/2 mph at the same RPM.
