difference between 96-02 rear bumpers?

Well, I got rear ended about a week and a half ago... 05 Accord didn't see me stopped waiting for a car to turn and POW!! Luckily I saw it coming and let off the brakes to cushion it a bit... tow hitch took the hit and the bumper got a lil dinged up.... her insurance sent me to a body shop(good one at that) for an estimate... no frame damage, whew!
Now that brings me to this question, any difference between the years.. ie: mounting points etc?

It doesn't look like there are any differences but I have heard from others that they differ. Not sure if it's the bumper itself, the mounting brackets or the mounting points.

I don't know, either, but a look at the Certifit catalog shows they have different center pieces for '96-'98 in either gray or chrome and '99-'02, in either Limited/SR5 with cladding/unpainted or SR5/chrome/no cladding. The side pieces are the same for all years, but have four types, chrome and unpainted, and with and without fender flares.

I'm a little baffled by the change in the center pieces. Well, honestly, I have no clue, especially why the two chrome center pieces would be different. But certifit would not have two different pieces if they didn't have to.
