Frame difference between 96-98 and 99-02 - Blue Ox Tow bar

So there was a bracket change on that part number. Explain the part number change. Thank you for the information [MENTION=10169]TheDurk[/MENTION]. That's #3 frame change in. Corresponds with the fat lip bumper.

To be super clear - the '99 frame is fat-lipped, but has the 'old' style mount behind the front wheels. '00-'02 has the newer mount in that location. Check the part numbers from Energy Suspension for the two different poly body mount kits...

Yes, I found that out when buying the wrong body mount kit. As mentioned, the B pillar Mount was converted to a three bolt mount just like the rear mount.

While that change is listed as a 2000 to 2002 model year it seems like some of the late 99 model year trucks got that frame, too. Both of my '99s, 2wd and 4WD, were mid-year production, May and July, and had the older style mounts.

Interesting. Mostly the next model year change is August. So anything August on should be the next model year. Before August is current year back to last August. As far as I know.

At the risk of seeming clueless and simplistic (hey, a guy's got to know his limitations as Clint Eastwood once said), it would seem I really need to find to find the correct bracket specific to my model year (pre mid 99) and really can't use the new style, correct? Since Toyota states it's not available is anyone aware of an aftermarket company that makes them?

You can use either bracket on any body. You just have to have the correct hardware between the bracket and the bolt.
